The Old Coastguard

This restaurant is amazing with a lovely atmosphere, fantastic view, and exceptional service! The daily changing menu features incredibly fresh fish dishes (the cuddly with coconut, lime, and chili was delicious) with a breathtaking view of the sea. Every course, including the bread served before our meal, was delicious. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended a great wine and dessert. Even our dog was welcomed with a bowl of water at our table.

I have visited The Old Coastguard many times before because of its great location and friendly, dog-friendly staff. However, today's service was chaotic and the food was disappointing. The main dishes, priced at £21, consisted of a small portion of dried, tasteless meat on a bed of congealed jus, accompanied by a bland fried item or polenta, and a very small serving of cauliflower. The seaweed was the only acceptable part of the meal, and seemed like it came from a different kitchen. Despite bringing these issues to the attention of the staff, no one seemed interested in addressing the problem, even with the manager onsite and not busy. It seems like there has been a decline in quality and value at The Old Coastguard, and I would recommend looking for a restaurant that takes pride in their customer support.

Honestly, my party of friends dined at this restaurant four times because we were friends with two of the employees who joined us for a meal. We were willing to be polite, but we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. Each meal was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The pork belly was tender and served on a heavenly bed of cauliflower. The risotto and whole sole were also outstanding. We especially loved the salt croquettes in lobster bisque on the starter menu. The treacle bubble was a standout dish, falling apart tenderly and satisfying my sweet tooth. The sides, including bratkartoffeln and delicate brokkoli with butter, were also excellent. Even though we were too full for dessert, I highly recommend trying the sticky toffee pudding. Overall, the dining experience was fantastic and I would recommend it to everyone.

We loved our two overnight stays here. all staff were friendly, chatting, helpful with advice to please eager and we were looking for in great comfort. the food was fabulous.

One of the best restaurants I have ever been too. Exceptional service and delicious food. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back.
