We always try to eat like a local when we travel, and dona emi’s tamalees are exactly that. 100% local, 100% quality and cheap with beautiful variety. we went on a Sunday morning, although we were not sure if they were open, but they were....15 minutes after the opening time there was already a long series of locals who bought the foolish of dozens for the trip out. we ate 2 before place and had taken 3 away for the next morning. size is large, the small is enough for a normal adult man, so they can imagine the big one. we tried the chicken with salsa verde, their 2 specialities mushroom/cask mushroom/pork and also a sweet, filled with pineapple. we loved them all and still long them. also the atoles were great, both the pecan and the cherry/apple. with public transport it is a bit out of the way, but I recommend them to take the effort and visit them. one of our best experiences in Mexico City!
The best tamales i have eaten. Not only by the taste, but also by the size. Choose the verde con queso . ;
These are the best tamales in Mexico City.They do pork,chicken with mole,Cheese and chile,chicken with Green sauce some sweet ones.Don´t forget to try the atole, they usually have two flavours on the go,also some chocolate based drink.They are so filling you will be set...up for the rest of the day.This is a family run business(what a lovely family) they take great pride in their product as they should.
This is just a small storefront run by a family selling tamales. There were two sizes of tamales, large and small. There were about five varieties of tamales, including mushroom, chicken and beef. They were all excellent and very inexpensive. This is the place if...you want perfect tamales. You need to get there early, because they open at 8 AM and close early in the afternoon and it was popular. This place was worth the walk from Condesa.
