You need to ask the staff for garlic. The fried rice is slightly on the salty side, but still enjoyable. The main downside is that it's hard to understand what they are recommending on the menu. The variety is lacking.
There was a wait of about 3 groups on Sunday afternoon. It took about 25 minutes for the ramen to be ready. The gold miso has a strong miso scent. It's on the richer side, so I'd like to eat it with white rice. The noodles are like tantanmen, with flat slightly curly noodles cooked firm for a good chew. The chashu doesn't get tender even when soaked in the broth. The black pork dumplings weren't to my liking. The soupless tantanmen has great flavor and volume, and my friend said the miso sauce dumplings were delicious. The menu is extensive, with set meals available, so I'd like to come back and try more. The counter seats are narrow with lots of tissues and seasonings placed on top, so it can get cramped if you order more than one dish. One dish is fine, but for two plates or more, I recommend a table seat. Today, the first dish arrived in about 10 minutes after ordering, and then more dishes came out one after another, so the wait time was short and impressive! The restaurant opened at 11:00 and was full immediately, with a long line waiting to enter. The mapo tofu has a strong flavor with a hint of sansho pepper. The fried rice also has a rich flavor and is fluffy. The soy sauce is also rich, with thin slightly curly noodles. The soupless tantanmen is a bit rich, but the thick noodles work well with it.
This is my third time here, but I am never disappointed. It can get crowded during lunchtime on weekends and holidays, but the turnover is fast so you don't have to wait long. The staff are energetic and efficient, providing quick service. The richness of the scallion miso soup was noticeable, with a perfect level of spiciness and a sweet aftertaste. The medium thick noodles paired well with the broth, making it easy to eat. As for the "Doshiko Miso," this is the must-have menu item for me. It's a classic among classics (I ordered it with the fried rice set).
