Shady Pines Saloon - Darlinghurst

We wanted to visit on a Friday night but a long wait outside - so decided to come back on a Friday afternoon and yes we got in! Cool place, a lot of attention to detail from a decoration point of view and a good beer selection- lots of spirits (I liked the number of bourbons) but no list/menu so no prices for the spirits. we decided to go for a cocktail: 20 dollars each and the disappointment couldn't be bigger - already in the making it looked soulless- just like the waiters serving/making it: guys if you don't like your job move on. For an expensive but nice beer: yes, for a relatively cheap glass of wine yes but hey - I felt ripped off for my 20 AUD cocktail so won't be back soon

Bumped into this place after a work dinner with colleagues! Decor and Ambient vibe was cool, interesting and a little different! The Cocktail of Vodka and Fresh Apple Juice was the winner of the night as we had all had a skin full of wine with dinner ! It was Tuesday night and I wonder what a weekend night would be like? Must go back!

Quirky hipster type hangout with the pretentious preparation of various pricey concoctions at its heart and soul. The good selection of bottled beers are not cheap either but there was a good atmosphere even on the quiet night we were there. The drinks menu card is an interesting read too. If you can find it, it might be worth a look.

However, the atmosphere was amazing everyone was up dancing to rock and roll tunes it was extremely busy with not much space to stand. It's made up to look like an old saloon good experience.

I have been to Shady Pines Saloon many times with work companions & friends. I love the place! Starting with the secret bar location, it has become great fun to head down a back alley to a nondescript doorway & have friends questioning your sanity. Then in the door & down the stairs to an underground world that is just an assault on the senses. The decor & country music just fits. A Great beer list & cocktail fun with the bar staff is the guarantee to a night to remember. Watch out for the peanut shells on the floor!
