Baydale Beck Inn - Darlington

If I hadn't known about the vegan menu in advance (from looking at HappyCow) I wouldn't have known to ask for it, because it wasn't mentioned anywhere. But I was so happy when I asked for it: there were at least three decent options for every course, including Teeside's famous Parmo done vegan! For starter I had creamy garlic mushrooms on a toasted baguette, and then had the vegan parmo for main, which was a huge portion of 3 or 4 large goujons covered in bechamel and cheese, accompanied by chips and a side salad. I was too full to have a pudding!

Separate vegan menu with more than the usual chilli and burger. Nice interior also seating outside. I had my first ever Parmo! It was huge and I actually couldn’t finish it all. Definitely recommend this gem of a pub if you are in the area. I congratulated the chef on his efforts so nice to have a proper choice of starters, mains and desserts
