Boathouse Oyster - Destin

Food mediocre at best. Most people come for the band, the alcohol and the ambience. Nothing take much to say. I returned the shrimp and grits. It was soup and the grits were nonexistent. .

Oysters were ok. Rest of the food was not very good and very overpriced. Service was terrible. $10 for a draft beer and no prices on the menu. Waitress spilled food on my husband and all we got was a sorry and a dirty rag to try to clean off.

Don't skip on this one if you like oysters. It's a perfect hole in the wall behind Red door. (Bogo drinks bar)Good and service are great. We stop by often.

If you're looking for a local place with great food that not everyone goes to, this is your spot! This little oyster bar was super cute, right on the water where they deceiver fresh fish and oysters daily, with dollar bills on the walls to remember your vacation. Although the service was pretty slow, the food came out super fast which was nice. I'd also like to add, the best piña colada in Destin in my opinion. We started with the Mama oysters which are a grilled oyster with gumbo and cheese on top and these were AMAZING! I'd eat them everyday. The best I've had. We also go the tuna dip which was salty, but hit the spot. I ordered the fish tacos but fresh caught that day! The gumbo was also very tasty and a little spicy, so the perfect gumbo! The nachos were good, the burgers were also good, literally everything here was good. Don't let this 3.5 star place fool you! Also, the first Friday of every month is free beer!

Sad to write this because we have enjoyed this place for years, but we went this past Saturday night and it was just horrible. Makes me wonder if it is new ownership because service and food were both awful. It was crowded and we sat at the bar. Took about 15 mins to get a drink put in which was fine, as they were busy and it is the height of the summer. We finally placed our order we got fish tacos with chips and salsa and peel and eat shrimp with corn on the cob and mashed potatoes. Chips and salsa totally forgettable (it's just pace salsa). Mashed potatoes were really good. And the fish tacos were solid. The corn, on the other hand, was inedible. No flavor, no seasoning, and clearly wasn't cooked with the shrimp or anything. It came out dry as sand so we asked for some butter. Whatever they brought out was foul smelled like paint thinner. Didn't eat. Finally, the shrimp came after we had finished everything else. I took one bite and when I say it was one of the worst tasting pieces of food I have ever had the displeasure of putting in my mouth, I am not exaggerating. We flipped through the basket most of the shrimp were straight (meaning they were undercooked) and then on the bottom we found a totally raw, completely gray piece. Done and out. Won't be back. The waitress knocked it off and discounted the rest of the meal but I mean wtf. So gross it's making me queasy just writing this. Like I said, hurts me to write this as we have been enjoying it for years but in my view this is totally inexcusable.
