Worth seeing in a historical, walled vault that served much earlier as a stable for cattle. Therefore the name cow's chapel. The capsule-like ceiling, massive columns and a scaling floor made of old wood create the unique feel-good atmosphere that you feel as a guest. Modern, illuminated shop windows show well preserved Roman and Celtic finds from Rheinhessen. On the extensive map you will find many treats to Römerart, e.g. the Bratwurst. Find out why it tastes Roman! Also recommended is the baked sheep cheese with Red Beete Carpaccio. For example, a good wine from the vineyards of the owner. In summer you can sit in the garden between old fruit trees. Recently there is an additional outdoor area in the courtyard, walled and covered, equipped with heating mushrooms and ceilings (also in reaction to Corona). Well done and masterfully walled! The restaurant is centrally located in the city centre. Parking should take place in side streets (e.g. Keltenstraße on the Catholic Church). The restaurant is always well visited, has a very friendly, dedicated owner with a partner and also competent services. My recommendation for a guaranteed beautiful evening!
Very nice family also top wines and good food with beautiful winery. What else do you want?
The most important in key points: external trade. Vocal concept, attractively presented. Clean! Engaged team, friendly and helpful, great location, very beautiful garden. I recommend a wine tasting. Price/performance ratio is correct. Update from October 2020: Very recommended.
Top wines in the Roman ambience! Corona update: Outside, the historic team has enchanted a new and fantastic location! Here it is totally cozy! Gerhard Blödel is by far the most creative winemakers. Not only his wines are excellent, but also his Strausswirtschaft in the old cow vault cellar with glass fountains full of Roman finds are very tastefully decorated. For more than 10 years, the Merlot from the Historic has won all comparable Merlot wines in the region. Anna enchants fantastic food and is looking forward to special wishes. Whoever never ate Roman is here at his expense. A highlight are the souvenirs from old glasses and ice wines. Secret tip is and remains the rarity wine tasting. Anna and Gerhard are the perfect hosts and the old delightful wines of the hammer.
