Davis Ranch Club - Dolan Springs

Inside, the place is a cozy little room. The air feels a bit damp and still, but it’s definitely a relief from the sweltering Arizona heat. The menu is quite extensive — and I mean *very* extensive. You can tell there’s a homey feel as you flip through the many differently-sized pages, which were obviously printed on an old home computer running Microsoft Works 1998. That’s not a criticism; it’s part of what made my visit memorable. When I was there for lunch, only one other table was occupied, with two men who clearly had Native American roots and two charming young girls who seemed to love being there. We only saw one employee, though there may have been another cook in the back. She was a young woman with cool tattoos and a friendly demeanor. As I enjoyed my meal, a few more customers came in — possibly regulars? She knew their names and greeted them warmly, and was especially great with the little girls across from me. I didn't inquire, but it seemed she (or perhaps her family) might own the place. The food was surprisingly good: I tried the snakebite burger, which was spicy and delicious. Others in my group had chicken sandwiches and burgers, and we all left satisfied and happy. The prices were very reasonable too. (But after spending a few days in Las Vegas, everything does seem affordable by comparison.) My only complaint is that, at the time of my visit, they didn’t yet have their license to serve beer, but that might have changed since then. One last note: although I didn’t order any, you should definitely check out their pie selection if you get the chance. It looked like all pre-made offerings, but I was impressed by the variety available. This isn’t the Waldorf Astoria, but if you're expecting a McDonald's on your way to the Canyon, don’t hold your breath. Instead, stop by this place, meet some friendly, down-to-earth people, and escape the sun for a little while.

I had the corned beef hash with eggs, and it was fantastic—authentic corned beef, not the canned stuff. I loved it! I’ll definitely return for more next time I'm in the area.

This is now Castle Rock Ranch! If you’re searching for Davis Ranch, you won’t be able to find it. The new paint design on the former Ranch Club is stunning, and many other businesses in Dolan Springs are also worth a visit. Everything has improved!
