The restaurant is closed and not open for business. There is no way to enter and the only thing available is the car park. There is no tea, coffee, ice, or drinks being served. It is now closed for business.
Yesterday, I visited the restaurant with my family and tried the new Romanian menu. The food was delicious, but the dessert was outstanding - it was the best I've ever had! I even bought some extra dessert (papanas) to enjoy later. We will definitely return to this restaurant and I highly recommend it. - Ramona Kildare
My wife and I while driving from Dublin on Saturday afternoon 5 January decided to stop off at the Blackchurch Inn and Restaurant. We hadn’t been here since the comedian Brendan Grace owned it some 25-30 years ago. As regular travellers to and from Dublin, we notice that this restaurant never really seems to have many cars parked outside it, as we drive by it. And so it was on the Saturday, we pulled in. We were the only car in the car park and wondered whether the place was open or not, until we saw a fleeting movement inside and decided to venture in. The first thing that hits you as enter through the restaurant door are three very large signs stating the the restaurant serves Romanian food. On entry, there are Romanian menus on the tables, but we were offered an English language menu when we asked if they had one? The décor and premises were of top quality and very, very clean. It is a very spacious restaurant. I settled for pork chops, mashed potatoes, fried mushrooms and a lovely sauce that came on the side. The wife settled for home made beef burger with cheese and bacon which were accompanied by chips. Despite another couple who had come into the restaurant after us, we waiting a bit for our meals to be served by a very pleasant waitress. The gents toilets could do with a bit of sprucing up. The two meals came to €27.90. While the meal was adequate, it was in our opinion a tad on the expensive side for what we got.
We stopped in for some lunch. We were greeted by a nice gentleman and easily found our seats. He took our order and within a short time, we had our food. It was good, very Irish, tasty. Atmosphere was all right, and for a high heat stop, it was a decent stop.
