I have been in Corpus for 1 year and have heard no less than 50 positive experiences from this iconic location. We all know Whataburger all got started here and Selina home town now Birrieria y Mariscos El General is also getting known throughout the state of Texas.Don't stop keep doing it your way.
Everything we ordered was absolutely incredible. The gentleman working the window was sooo kind and friendly. You HAVE to stop here! Try the birria platter mango ceviche, a twenty hour drive down and they did NOT disappoint! If we're ever back in the area 100% would eat again. Leave a review to get the word out of how amazing they are!
First time having birria tacos after seeing videos of quesabirria tacos on youtube. Everything was balanced well. Consomme reminded me of Pho soup where you strike a balance between savory, sweet, spicy, oil and acidity. Actually inspired me to make my own birria which turned out great but was an all day cook, with loads of dishes and now my back is sore, so I respect their craft. The wait is a little long but worth it, could call ahead. Burria ramen also seemed good but only had a taste. Horchata wasnt my favorite in town, I prefer it strong and sweet like a rice pudding. I did try quesabirria tacos at the only other place I could find in CC and while they had more meat, the flavor was lacking. I'd say Gaujillos on the island could compare but they only do Lamb Birria as a soup and are far more expensive. So if you want quesabirria tacos, this is the place to go.
Me and my fiancée just tried some of their mini birria tacos, and were highly satisfied. It came with 5 tacos topped with cilantro, red onion, and queso blanco. Their consomé and tacos have no comparison to any other food truck in Corpus! It was so good, I didn’t even get a chance to take a picture.
The only con would be that they run out of seafood. But a lot of places around here always out of stuff. Other than that, very tasty! And the mariscos (had to go again) was pretty good.
