I also would like to talk about the decoration in this place as well it was very well decorated and some old pics you could see that would bring a smile to your face :
Good salmon and scrabbled egg breakfast and fine coffee. Not the most amazing breakfast but was ok and a good price. Not a lot more I can add
Tries to eat at another restaurant but was told there was a wait list so went here called Cafe Edinburgh. We were only ones in restaurant for some time but 8am is early during Fringe I suppose! Ordered British and Scottish breakfast. Served within 10 minutes and tasted fine. Waitress was a bit rude and dismissive (maybe she’s not a morning person or maybe she doesn’t like her job but the cook (maybe owner or manager? asked how the meal was and seemed to care. Nothing special but prices were good (under £20 with drinks , service fast, food good, restaurant clean.
Usual amount of poorly informed comments so after a visit yesterday I thought I should add some balance. Popped in between fringe shows and asked the staff if we had time to eat. We were assured we did and were quickly seated and order taken. Service was fine with at least three waitresses checking to ensure we were in track. Food was ok and yes it is overpriced but if you eat in a tourist trap be aware. Owner was a bit too casual. Can't understand the comments about prepacked food as should not expect anything else at these prices. Some folk seem to want fine dining on a budget. A microwave in a cafe is surely not a surprise as most cafe kitchens have one. I only visited last night as I had little time and was in the area so although I would not make a return visit some of the previous comments are unfair and the waitresses we experienced hardworking and friendly
Having worked and lived in France, UK and USA (mainly Southern California the past thirty two years, having done for twelve years in all,in the Hospitality Hotel Trade/Commerce even private Estate Service at a very high level, I know about Customer Service. Of course, I can judge correctly lower levels services according the venue also. We had a few drinks which then came up well over priced. The glasses were gross too. The Manager (owner? was rude and dismissive. Wow! One of the worst place I have ever been. Do not bother.
