While we were waiting, the kids were given a small piece of raw dough to...play with. The 6yo had been watching the chefs in the kitchen tossing the pizza dough, and spent the entire time we were in the restaurant practicing making pizza! The staff are friendly, and I prefer the table ordering, now. Especially with kids. The food is fast, and always delicious. And if there is room, there’s gelato! Perfect for a family visit. We will bring them again!
The restaurant is large with tables and booths. The service was ok, we were the only people dining at 2pm and the waitress sure took her time. She was friendly, but just super slow and unmotivated. Lunch combos were perfect. Personal size pizza with soup...or salad for a reasonable price! The pizza was great, fresh ingredients and delicious tomato sauce.
I am not 100% sure why but this location disappoints me every time I go. The menus between locations is the same but they cannot get the pizza to taste as good as what you can get from the original Famoso. I know a lot...of people go to this location because of the name but there are better eats along Whyte Ave so I would recommend going somewhere else. If you have never eaten at the Famoso downtown, you may enjoy this one.
Came here on a whim this past Sunday since it was the first warm weekend of the year. We were looking for a place with a patio that wasn't overly crowded and also baby friendly (there two babies in tow). My friend suggested Famoso since they...have a patio out back which I didn't know about! It was a perfect suggestion since there were still tables available when we arrived mid afternoon. And they also offer high chairs for babies! Our server was good overall. Better than the lady who greeted us (she needs to find another job as she was pretty grumpy and unfriendly). I ordered the Cavoletti (brussel sprouts, prosciutto, dates, walnuts and honey). It was freshly prepared and made well. The table of us also ordered a pitcher of white sangria since the weather was calling our for it. Best decision ever so good it tasted like juice! It could've used less ice (so ask for less ice if you do order a pitcher). The water glasses for the babies even had a lid and straw how awesome is that? No room for dessert of course but I'm happy we were able to enjoy good food and drink in a quieter enclosed patio on such a beautiful day.
We ate here for a family dinner out. Let's start with service. Sure the server was friendly for the most part, but when we needed things we had to flag her down, which was difficult. At one point she was nearby talking to a co...worker so I tried to get her attention and when she looked at me, she moved behind a pillar where I could no longer see her, but could see she was still talking to her co worker. Once the conversation was done she finally came over. The pizza tastes fantastic. We all had completely different pizzettas. Within an hour of leaving the restaurant all three of us were sick. The stomach pains were absolutely brutal. We definitely will not be returning to this location, if any Famoso, ever again.
