Having been to the Butt of Lewis, and on our way back to our cottage we wanted a bite to eat. We stopped here. Lovely service, very good food.
Fabulous cafe menu unfortunately we were tight for time so had gorgeous take away lunches for our ferry crossing. The museum was interesting and well presented in a light airy modern building. All staff at the museum and cafe were very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
We dropped in for lunch on a drive from Tarbert to Ness, stopping at the usual tourist spots. This wonderful, beautiful spot was a world apart. The moment I stepped in I heard one of the staff give a cheerful “tìoraidh” (bye! to some people who were leaving. The cafe was packed, but the hosts graciously assured us we would be taken care of. and we were sent off to the museum exhibits, which were well organized, lovely, and Gaelic-language centered. The shop too featured Gaelic-language merchandise. Lunch was amazing- that fluffy white bread!!! Amazing and reasonably priced. The wait staff were cheerful efficient kind, to the customers and with each other. All I can say is if I thought I was saying goodbye to Lewis on this trip, the Comunn Eachdraich Nis may be the welcome I needed to come back again. Tapadh Leibh, a h-uile duine.
What an amazing Center! It was very informative and is a great asset to the local community. We had the chance to talk to the locals who were lovely people. Overall, a much better experience than the museum in Stornaway. You are doing great work, keep it up.
