The restaurant looks good enough for a nice dinner/date night. They have a whiskey bar, a lounge, and an entertainment space. These are separate from the dining area itself. I've been here twice, and both times the restaurant had 1-2 other tables with about 2 servers working. All in all, this provides for a comfortable, quiet dinner. Food: The first time I had grilled salmon and the second time I had steak and potatoes. I also shared a salad, goat cheese appetizer, and peach cobbler dessert with my boyfriend. We both thought the food was good, though not exceptional. I think this is one of the better restaurants in Evanston in terms of food. They also change their menu seasonally, and the summer menu is noticeably more affordable. I liked this change because it reflected the restaurant's ambiance, which is more of a upscale bar/pub environment than a fine-dining $30/meal place. If you are vegetarian, there are several good options. Service: Our waitress made us feel right at home and was very accommodating with food preferences. She answered all our questions and was helpful with requests.
My husband and I had the most delicious and amazing dinner the other night at 27 Live. We started out sharing the chestnut gnocchi. I wish we hadn't shared as I could have eaten the whole thing. David had the vegetable pot pie and I had meatloaf wellington. Both dishes melted in our mouths....delicious. We really were full but couldn't resist dessert. We shared the butterscotch panna cotta and the dulce deleche gelato. Again--both were so amazing that I wish I hadn't shared. The service was outstanding and friendly and at just the right speed. We are bringing friends there Saturday night and I can't wait to go back! This restaurant is a great surprise. We checked out the warm and cozy whiskey bar and will go there next time. Can't wait to try the music!
The food is amazing, and the music is spectacular! It is without a doubt the most hip and fun place to party in Evanston! Two thumbs up for 27 live!
What an amazing show last night . It was the 100th Steve Rashid Presents and for me, the best of the best! Steve chose to have Paul Marinaro headline this one. What a group of talented musicians accompanied him; Chris Sargent on piano, Joe Policastro on bass and Mike Allemana on guitar. Paul never sounded better, the audience was enthralled and Steve joined in on one song with his harmonica! WOW
Went here for a event, and it was awesome. Great food, great craft beer, open spaces, and another bar on the second floor. Def going back to this place with some friends.
