Thankfully, this cafe offers a brilliant option, to sit right on the beach, and drink great coffee. All of my cafe reviews are based of of three things. Passion, crema(skill), and coffee(roaster), as any cafe that has all three gives you the best chance for a great cup of coffee. The current head barista here is a SCAA certified trainer, and has passion about coffee in bucket loads. What's more important, that passion has started infecting the other staff. While it is early days, this cafe has lots of potential. Likewise with skill, with an in house trainer, I can not believe it will be long before they are all up to scratch, but they are heading in the right direction. Finally, these guys have recently switched over to Single Origin Coffee and are looking forward to showing off what they can do with the coffee. If you are in the area, this is going to be a cafe that you'll want to check out. Passion: 8/10 Crema: 8/10 Coffee: Single Origin Roasters
No longer called 'The Deck ' but now 'Pelican Pavilion ', the lack of attention to this social media detail was clear. This has always been a favourite spot f of mine for a long time. I decided to bring my lady down for a casual Sunday brunch. The location is amazing. Always has been. I love what the owner has done with the decor. The staff were all friendly, except the girl who took my order. She was uninterested, boring and clearly didn 't want to be at work that day. Props to the American fella who brought our cappuccinos complete with a little chocolate powder pelican design stencilled onto the foam. Our water cups weren 't very clean so I gave them a quick re-rinse with the bottle of water. The food was satisfying but with one let-down.... a very second-rate slice of processed cheese was used on my Reuben sandwich. Otherwise it was tasty and as a Reuben should be.
