My husband and I decided to give Salty Pelican a try since we kept hearing great things about it. The service was good, although we had asked to sit upstairs and were seated downstairs instead. It wasn’t a huge issue, just a bit amusing. The atmosphere was nice, and the portion sizes were generous. However, the food left much to be desired. It was incredibly bland and lacked flavor. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich and found it unimpressive. He also tried the sweet potato fries, which had a chewy texture but virtually no taste at all. I went with the lobster mac and cheese, but it was equally tasteless, to the point where it seemed like no salt was added. Even after I tried adding salt, it still didn’t help much. I ended up taking it home and added my own seasonings and hot sauce, which made it so much better. We're really disappointed because the food has a lot of potential if only they could add some flavor. (The photo was taken at home after I added some seasoning.)
This is one of the best pretzels I've ever had. I was pleasantly surprised by how it was served on this unique holder. The beer cheese was outstanding.
Expect a wait to be seated most days. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait for seating upstairs on the ledge. It was evening, so the sun was beating on us, but the food and drinks came pretty timely.
It's a home run Old school steak pepper mushrooms cheese sub. NY style ? This will be one of our frequent favorites On my second trip I had to clear the dead flys off my table I got to tell you I've never seen such a dirty unattended area for restaurants as I've found here on ameila Island. I wish their health department would post a score card, like they do in Jacksonville.
