Had mud cake for dessert which was really good. We had jumping goat shots at 8 NZD each as an aperitif which I thought was great value. We sat outside and it was relatively busy with an interesting crowd.
We stayed 2 nights at Franz Josef, tried several restaurants and the best one must go is Monsoon ! The food is delicious, not too salty as others places, and prices are very reasonable. The “boss” at the counter taking the order was very friendly ! He kept our wine in freezer to keep it cold after we paid it hahaha ! Thanks bro/mate/boss
We came here for dinner as we were staying at the Rainforest Retreat next door and we were pleasantly surprised! Delicious drinks with more than 50 gins to choose from and the food was super tasty. We had the pork crackling to start and my husband had the ribs for a main while I had the cauliflower steaks. Both meals were full of flavour and very filling! The staff were incredibly friendly and the music was great too! Highly recommend! *As per most hospitality venues at the moment they do require proof of
We didn't eat here as didn't have time, but menu looked good and food looked amazing from what we saw coming out. We came here for drinks and loved the atmosphere and general vibe. This is the place to be for a night out in franz josef, great music, pool table, nice choice of drinks. Roaring fire.. ski lodge vibe. Really cosy!
Food was great! Be sure to get the ribeye and seafood chowder they are the best I’ve had!
