The server was kind enough to inform us that they had gluten free buns. My husband and grandson ordered the bison burger, while I had elk chili nachos for my meal... simply delicious. The atmosphere is not fancy, but the food is really good.
I cannot believe that a breakfast buffet had nothing but cold food early in the morning. It seemed like they took leftover breakfast dishes from the fridge and tried to reheat them using butane burners. The sign said they were open at 6:30am, but nobody showed up until 6:45am to unlock the door, and they made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. Fortunately, only one person in our group got the buffet. The rest of us went to a convenience store for microwaved breakfast sandwiches. After talking to others in town, we found out that this is one of the worst breakfast spots in the area.
Gardiner, Montana is a fantastic location to stay when visiting Yellowstone National Park, serving as the north entrance to the park. During our time there, we dined at several restaurants, but one establishment that truly impressed us was the Yellowstone Mine Restaurant. Upon arrival, we were informed of a brief wait, but were promptly seated before long. Our server, Marina, was attentive, friendly, and helpful throughout our meal. I opted for the Meatloaf special with a side of onion rings and a cup of Elk Chili, while my wife enjoyed a classic hamburger and fries. Both dishes were generous in portion size and delicious. The atmosphere was casual and there was ample parking available. After dining at a few other places during the week, we returned for another evening at Yellowstone Mine Restaurant. This time, I tried the Trout special with a cup of Elk Chili, while my wife had the Chicken Pot Pie. Once again, both dishes were excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant if you find yourself in Gardiner, Montana. Despite the possibility of a short wait, the food is well worth it. Don't miss out on the Elk Chili – it's a standout dish. Make sure to arrive with a big appetite and enjoy your meal. And if you happen to visit, ask for Marina!
They were slammed the night we were there, Oct., 2023. We had great service and good food. I loved the restaurant walls that were filled with quartz. What a cool idea!
What a disappointment. I guess that during the winter they have a very limited menu. I ordered the chicken pot pie...they should have called in pea pot pie because when I broke them crust, all I could see was peas and a few carrots...I stirred it a bit thinking the chicken was at the bottom...WRONG! I found a few small pieces of chicken...ate a few bites and then gave up!
