However the timing from the kitchen was extremely slow We started with a pizza that was good, not as fabulous as the server made it sound like it was going to be but decent Then we got beef carpaccio and burrata for apps. The beef was very bland and overpowered by the other ingredients. Burrata was fabulous For entrees we got the swordfish which was amazing! And the Veal which was dry and slightly over cooked-a sauce would have definitely helped it We added a half order of paperdelle and half order of the ravioli they are known for and next time I would honestly skip the other options n just get pasta. It was the highlight Dessert was tiramisu and panna cotta Both were fine It was a good meal but I wouldn't put it on my list of don't miss places when visiting
Went to Ravello at the Four Season Resort for an evening taking advantage of Magical Dining. The resort and restaurant are very beautiful and quite elegant. We started with Tomato e Mozzarella Focaccia with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Herbs, Muffaletta dip absolutely wonderful and packed with flavor. For my three courses I started with Carpaccio di Manzo Beef Tenderloin, Grilled Artichokes, Pecorino Sardo, Agrumato done exactly the way it should, wonderfully thin beef with perfect seasoning. Then Branzino e Salsa Verde Whole Pan Seared Branzino, Piedmonte Salsa Verde, Sautéed Haricots Verts, Cipollini, Arugula it did have a few bones but overall cooked perfectly, the complete fork full was packed with flavor. We finished with Vanigila Panna Cotta with Blueberries Vanilla Panna Cotta, Blueberry Compote, Lemon, Mixed Berry Sorbet very good and I finished the whole thing. Our server Sam was very good. We did have a few issues with draftiness and bright sun coming through the windows in our eyes. The place is very family friendly and has a lot of energy. A little distracting when you are trying to having a quiet conversation. We appreciated the celebration dessert (though it said happy birthday when it was our anniversary but still was a nice thought.
The wine pours were only 3 oz., not the industry standard of 5oz. We did not order wine from the Magical Dining Menu where it states tastings are 3oz. When paying for upscale dining, we expect the industry standard at the very least. We were very disappointed with this stingy pour.
Overall our experience was good at Ravello, it was our first time and we dined from the magical dining menu. The ambiance, service and vibe was 10/10. Our server Grace and her helper were on it and very kind. The food was good, with some highs and lows. We loved our appetizers and desserts but were underwhelmed with our main entrees with the swordfish being dry and branzino not having a lot of flavor. We did order off the main menu and tried the veal ravioli which was delicious so I am wondering if it was just the magical dining entrees that were off. I want to visit again and order off their main menu to really see if this was a one off because we have heard such wonderful reviews.
Food and service were excellent and the Magical Dining had wonderful choices, including good prices for selected bottles of wine. We have been to Ravello several times now and would go more often but it is very noisy, hard to hear each other without raising voices. It's the one thing that makes us hesitate.
