I settled on the burrito and as someone who normally finishes their food I couldn’t even get more than a quarter of the way through, I am a foodie, but being that I came here hungover craving breakfast food somehow thought of kale in my breakfast burrito was an element I couldn’t get past. Or hey they have a breakfast sandwich with dill. I’m sure they are great if you are sober and have a more refined palette but if you are selective, have issues with texture, or hungover I don’t recommend coming here.
The rose cardamom latte was delicious. The French toast, however, was practically flavorless.
We got the Vegan breakfast burrito and my gosh was it delicious! It was much larger than we were anticipating and way more appetizing too! We were so happy with the choice we made for breakfast. The Early Bird will be our go to from now on!
That Early Bird is one of my favorite breakfast/brunch/lunch places in Grand Rapids. The food is delicious with balanced and interesting flavor profiles and very high quality ingredients. In peak hours, I would recommend planning to do take out since it gets very busy. The space is bright and airy with flexible seating to fit large groups (tables that fit 6-8, but expect to wait a bit for a table to open up) or feel cozy with a friend. Seating is first come, first serve with orders taken at the counter and food delivered to the tables based on the number/letter sign you get at the counter. I looooooooove the avocado toast here and am so happy that it is nut free and it can be vegan without the feta. The seasonal drinks (lattes, lemonades, spritzes) are amazing too.
Got the Astro Sandwich and was a very weird mushy flavorless mess. Order the strawberry mango tea iced and it came with no ice... tasted like lukewarm water. SO CONFUSED about how this place stays busy.
