Love the bar area option if riding solo and the service is just as good. Plenty of menu options but not overwhelming, and when in doubt, get a recommendation because you can't go wrong. I finished off my brunch escapade with the blueberry bread pudding for dessert so yummy! Clean, great customer service, tasty, and downtown GSO SCORE! Honestly, I’m kind of shocked. I have been wanting to try Undercurrent since they moved from South Elm to the new location, (years ago) as we support our local restaurants. We decided to try them for brunch, and easily got a reservation the day of, which now I know why. The brunch salmon was prob the worst salmon I’ve ever had a a restaurant. It had a mustard glaze and a dusting of pistachios, and it was essentially flavorless. It was resting on a bed of watery, no flavor risotto, with some limp, soggy brussel sprouts. I decided to make the best of it, and ask for some salt and pepper, but we couldn’t flag our server, Aubrey down. She was whisking back and forth, and didn’t even look at us. We ended up asking the hostess at the hostess station for salt and pepper, which she kindly got for us. When we saw Aubrey again, I asked for some sauce, to help with the blandness, and she asked what kind of sauce. I responded, “I don’t know what kind of sauces y’all have”, she basically said “lots of sauces”. So I asked for some balsamic glaze, not knowing what to ask for exactly. I should have just not even asked, because she brought something that tasted like sticky salad dressing. Not sure what it was. A different person brought our check, which was for a different table. It had five items on it, none of which was ours. We kindly pointed it out , and he did bring the right check. We were very polite, and didn’t complain once, as we asked for salt, pepper and a sauce just to make the salmon edible. It was just a weird brunch experience, and the whole atmosphere felt like we were at a random hotel restaurant in a lobby, not lots of personality , and food very mediocre to bad. Undercurrent needs to up the game on food and service, unfortunately. Service: Dine in Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $30–50 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

Went recently for Sunday brunch. I had the galette, husband the farm raised organic eggs from Massey Farms, great bacon, world class stone ground grits, delish biscuits, terrific coffee. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxing with a great vibe. Our server Tey, literally made our evening! He gave us the best recommendations though I don’t think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. His personality and service was so great we wanted him to sit with us!
