There is the pavement cafe option which is great, but what I really liked was the large bar with barstools that made it feel like a proper pub. Add excellent service, good beer and a good range of food options and you really have a top pub. Food wise we simply had the famed special pregos which consisted of a crisp baguette with top quality steak, perfectly cooked and topped with bacon and cheese. I also liked that it was bar snack sized which meant that it didn’t impact on our beer drinking.
The best “prego” in the North. A “prego” is a national institution and this is certainly the best one available between Lisbon and Trás-Os-Montes (respect Abel near Bragança)
Terrible service. Waited a long time in the table (after my friend went inside to tell them we were waiting) and they ignored us until we left. We went across the street to a cute little cafe and it was as excellent. Don’t bother with cervejaria martins.
Friendly service though not very attentive. I suspect it was our timing (630) as they were getting ready for dinner. Nice beer, limited wine by the glass but they were helpful allowing a taste. Food seemed over priced a bit but tasted good. Nothing special. Interesting that they charge more to be on the terrace.
We entered and were solemnly ignored. I had to request a menu. It took too long. Apparently, waitress was on a very bad day, because not even a good morning she said. I ordered a beer. It took too long and it was hot. I went to the bathroom. It was dirty and smelly. We canceled the orders we had already made, paid for the beer, which I did 'n finish, and we left.
