Went today to get lunch, because I went there yesterday and the sandwich was pretty good. Went today to get a sandwich. And saw on the menu to make it a comb. So I said can you make it a comb. And the guy made it clear there was no discount it's regular price. I said who asked for a discount. I spent almost 15 dollars in there yesterday. So I don't have a problem paying whatever the price was. So I just left. I WILL NOT BE BACK.
Came here randomly since I was next door at Fine Wok and was waiting for food. It's a small little donut shop and they sell all kind of stuff. The donuts are fresh. Unfortunately, I couldn't try their fresh juice since they didn't have oranges I wanted the carrot and orange apple juice , but I'll have to come back next time to try it! Come and support your local mom and pops donut shop! :
Was at Kaiser Permanente hospital across the street for an early appointment and was given an estimated wait time of 1.5 hours, so decided to go to the nearest donut shop. I'm not from around Harbor City, so I used my GPS which took us south on PCH to a gas station. This spot is right across the street from the emergency room. Pandemic Yellow Tier Review PARKING. Parked in the L shaped parking lot. Parking is tight. COVID19 PRECAUTIONS. Went in and it was crowded. No social distancing. Standing room only. It was as if the pandemic did not exist here, but only existed in the hospital across the street. Not to say no precautions were taken. I mean, they did have a barrier between employee and customer and a sign to keep a 6' distance, but that's about it. PASTRIES. I did not get a donut, but got a plain croissant for myself and an apple turnover for mom. She decided not to get a donut because, in her opinion, the texture did not look good. She's a true donut connoisseur. I just like French Crullers, but was not feeling it this morning. Croissant was standard. Typical order in frozen, let thaw, and bake type of croissant. Outside was flaky and golden, and inside was buttery and soft. No hard crust at the bottom and no apparent eggwash. All is good. COFFEE. Basic donut shop coffee, which is more of a blonde watered down mess, but somedays you want a blonde roast instead of espresso or dark roast. No mad here either. COFFEE STATION. So, here's where most if the disappointment comes. Coffee cup lids were staggered on trays. I guess I can appreciate that my coffee lid was potentially not handled my anyone else, but I would have rather had it given to me from the counter instead of out in the open. Half and half were in metal tea pots. White granulated sugar were in re purposed creamer containers. LOTTERY. This looks to be the spot for lottery tickets and scratchers. Of the 5 people in line before me, not one ordered coffee or donuts. The same person handling transactions for lottery tickets, scratchers, and cash is the same person handling your food. Maybe it is safer to keep the coffee lids out in the open. This place is 24 hours and most likely I'll be back out of convenience when visiting the hospital. Will buy lottery tickets next time when it's not as crowded.
The best donuts in the South Bay! The staff here are fantastic, and the coffee is always hot and fresh. It's the perfect spot to grab fluffy, flavorful, and amazing donuts. My favorite are the old-fashioned donuts, and unlike those from other shops, these won't give you heartburn. If you want to spoil yourself and never enjoy donuts from anywhere else, you have to visit JAX Donuts! I've been a loyal customer for over 25 years!
