Large dish of seasonal veg to share betwen us, and a large portion of meat on each plate, plus roast potatoes, 2 Yorkshire puddings and a large boat of gravy. Everything was piping hot and beautifully cooked. For afters there was a large selection of home made puddings, which were offered with custard, cream or ice cream to suit. The pot of tea was really good too. All in all an excellent meal for 2 for under £35.! Will definitely return, and would highly recommend it to anyone who likes good home cooking style meals, rather than tiny portions of artistically arranged food served on ridiculously large plates! The location is quite remote though, and my Sat nav didn’t identify the right building from the postcode, so it might be better to put in Stockerston Rd Allexton instead, and look out for the sign opposite the driveway. The tea rooms aren’t open every day, but the opening hours are on their website.
I absolutely adore this place! If you're looking for fine dining or haute cuisine, look elsewhere. This is the place to go for great conversation, good company, a delicious meal, and the friendliest people you'll ever meet. The food is delicious, Matthew is fantastic, and his family, who take care of you, are wonderful as well. It's one of the most peaceful places to enjoy a meal or simply have a glass of wine, followed by a leisurely stroll around the lake to watch the birds. I love it.
Lovely surprise birthday meal.Looked a little bit unkempt on arrival, but a friendly welcome and a great meal for the four of us,a struggle to finish the mixed grill, very tasty and all cooked in plain site of customers.Cant remember last time I had such a relaxed evening watching the bird and wildlife in a sublime woodland setting,I'm sure we will be back
We discovered Sweethedges Tea Room despite the easily missed sign with worn off writing. Look for the yellow arrow and turn right into the farmyard to find the Tea Room on your right. It may look closed, but it's open! We both enjoyed the delicious full English Breakfast with generous portions, well-cooked food, and attentive service. Birdwatchers can sit at the round table in the left corner to see a variety of birds feeding on the feeders. The family-run tea room may not be fancy like the Savoy, but it's charming and we will definitely return.
We came here for Sunday lunch. Very basic, but clean amenities and venue. Yes the decor is out of date and could do with updating but the service and food was great. It’s family and dog friendly. The food itself was tasty and nicely prepared/cooked. Puddings were also enjoyable. If you venture off onto a walk you’ll see that the site has some lovely grounds. Just be aware that you’ll need CASH as they do not accept Card Payments!!! Highly recommended.
