The quality and quantity of the food was very good at a time when many establishments allow their standard to slip. We were very pleasantly surprised when each table was offered a complementary carafe of port to accompany our mince pies and coffee! The tables were beautifully decorated and the service prompt as well as friendly. Real value for money at £19. With the roaring log fires and Christmas tree it all made for a wonderful finish to our day, much of which had been spent walking in the fog.
Booked a table for lunch on Saturday, got there a little early but no problem. We had a drink whilst we waited for the kitchen to open and looked at the menu. From ordering to getting the food was less than 30 minutes, it was all fresh and very tasty, my steak pie was delicious and the hand cut chips and fresh veg were superb. I will return to the Hopper lane when I am passing, it is a credit to the owners.
Stopped out of the blue for a meal, the food was fabulous. We had a home cooked pie which was full of flavour and full to the brim, (the service was lovely too). Would definatly recommend it for food. We will be going back.
Stopped by for a bite to eat and a drink (or two! . Sat in the beer garden enjoying the sunshine and watching the sheep in the field behind. I would thoroughly recommend The Hopper Lane if you’re looking for somewhere to sit back and relax. My husband opted for the burger and I chose the summer platter. Both were really tasty and good value for money. A family run pub with very friendly staff and great service. Despite the reduced menu there was still plenty to choose from. We will be back again very soon.
So many pubs belonging to pub groups are over designed and serve underwhelming food and drink at overwhelming prices with little real enthusiasm. The Hopper Lane is a refreshing change; a family owned pub, and hotel, that has retained its real character. The lunch menu is wide and varied and the service we received when we visited with our dog was delightful a warm welcome that felt genuine, rather than 'trained ', from nice people.
