I have had a great experience every time I have come. But, since it has been a while, I will limit my review to this particular experience. This was our New Year 's Eve lunch. It was just the two of us, as my wife does not eat sushi, or anything else on the menu. That 's kind of a good thing, because my son and I eat a lot of sushi, and our bill gets pretty expensive. Normally sushi for the both of us runs about $130 dollars. Today, it was only $79.00 because we learned about bento boxes. We each got two of our favorite rolls, soup, salad, and two pot stickers for less than the regular price for two rolls. We could have stopped there for about $35, but we are sushi overachievers After the bento boxes, we ordered a snapper roll, an Osaka roll, and a Ninja roll. Every one of our seven rolls was perfectly made, super fresh, and undeniably delicious. The soups (mine-miso, his-Osaka) were very flavorful. The salad was surprisingly crisp and nicely covered with a delicate but sweet dressing. The place is always immaculate. I have never seen it in disorder. Our server, whose name I forgot to write down, was awesome. She checked on us often and got all of our orders correct. Add to that that the sushi came out quickly, and I would have to challenge anyone to give the restaurant anything less than 5 stars based on this visit. Now... We don 't go out for sushi often because of the cost. However, we are going to go to Osaka more frequently now and stick to the bento boxes. We will still go about twice a year to do a totally piggy binge. That 's just the way we roll !
My birthday was March 14th and I made a reservation almost a week ago. Since my friend gets out late from work, we tried to reserve the latest time possible. We asked for a 9PM reservation which was unavailable and they offered us 8:45 PM instead. I accepted and told them that was fine. On the day of, as we were on our way, the restaurant called me and asked if we were still confirmed for the reservation and I found out the time they had was 8:15 PM. I explained to them it was supposed to be 8:45 PM, and I told them we were less than 10 minutes away from the restaurant. The hostess said it wasn 't a problem. 2 minutes later, I get a call from the restaurant, but this time was from the manager who was very angry and rude for being late. I was upset that they did not hear the correct time when I reserved the dinner. The manager said No we have it for 8:15 PM and it is unfair to keep the cooks waiting. I explained to him we were about 5 minutes away from the restaurant. He proceeded to say I 'm telling you we will not seat you. Bye and hung up the phone. I 've never heard such a rude and unacommading manager like that ever. However, the hostess that night was kinder and handled the situation better and even apologized. I told her how appreciative I was of her than her manager and she said that just the way he gets when he 's mad. I think I would return to give this restaurant a second chance but just wanted to share my disappointing experience. It made me quite upset and if the manager would 've handled the situation differently, I don 't think I would 've been that upset.
What has happened to Osaka???!!?? This location used to be really good!! A few weeks ago my wife &I went there and as usual the sushi was very good!! Now the service, that's a different story. It took a good 5-7 minutes to get waited on, then throughout dinner we never got checked on. To end the evening we waited longer to get the check than we did to eat!! Now, I understand places have an off night, hence why I didn't leave this review sooner and I went back tonight. This time I was alone, and it was only 430pm on a Saturday. There were about 8 tables taken up and about 7 servers standing around. As usual, I went to the Sushi bar and sat down, about 3-5 minutes go by, the waiter asked for my drinks, gave him my order and he walked away, 5 minutes and I get my drinks and give him an app order as well as let him know I'm trying to decide on my rolls. He leaves and I never see him again!!! The sushi chef gave me my app, no I had NO Setup.. I asked the manager for the setup hoping maybe that would get attention.. I ate my app and drank my beer, then sat there. 20 minutes go by and no one!!! I figured the tab for the beer and app on my own, left it on the bar and walked out!! No one said anything!!! Can't believe how far this place has fallen where service is concerned!!
Dined at Osaka tonight (Valentine's Day) with my beautiful wife. Atmosphere was very nice and noise level was just perfect for gazing into the eyes of the most amazing and beautiful woman on earth. I was captivated by every word she spoke and could only think about how wonderful our lives are and how I look forward to every moment with this gorgeous goddess that I have the honor to call my wife. Once again we over enjoyed but the sushi and teriyaki chicken was exceptional. Kevin our server was attentive and courteous. Osaka Japanese grill is a perfect venue for that ever so important date night.
Don 't waste your time. They have lost a faithful customer. I 've been here several times over the past year with NO reservations and never had an issue, there was a time that they didn 't even accept reservations. We arrive and the host, Anna, asks how many and tells us 15 minute wait time. We wait for 30 minutes and she takes us to a table. I informed her we wanted to sit at a grill. She then said they only have the grills for reservations. However, she did not mention that or ask my preference when I arrived. I was not pleased. If this is the rule, they should state such especially since I 've been here before and was never turned away from a grill or told reservations only. I asked to speak to the manager, and explained it to him and he said well there is a first time for everything and laughed. Nothing is funny. Kyle that was rude and an unprofessional and unacceptable response. Learn how to talk to people and treat customers better.
