The service we received from the staff was cold, snooty and we did not feel welcome at all. The atmosphere was non existent. The food was extortionately over priced and not impressive in quality or quantity. The following day we went to An Cafaidh Mara at Corpach Marina where we had the opposite experience! Great food, lovely service and fantastic value for money. Will not be back.
Afternoon tea was disappointing, lacking in savoury food and way to little for your money. The service was at the best average. We had booked vegetarian for x1 and they totally missed this on the booking. Feeling like it need a bit of a shake up, its been the same for the last 20 yrs since I have been visiting.
I have been lucky enough to have eaten in many truly amazing restaurants around the World and am a committed fan of the Roux family and their brand. However sadly our experience here was a massive disappointment. We arrived, as asked, at 7pm. We were left standing for several minutes with staff standing around looking as if they were unsure what they were doing. Canapes eventually appeared although the Chef brought them to a central table and we were invited to help ourselves. I guess we could have asked that they be served to us but it would have been good if that had been offered. Five waiting staff then stood around chatting to each other giving the impression, as there were only a few guests, that it was massively overstaffed. We had a lovely window table but although the food was mainly very good the lamb was horrendously over salted and the whole main course tepid. We ordered the wine pairing package but I explained I cannot drink red wine. Rather than offering me another glass of the pairing white wine, the waiter asked if I would prefer a glass of the house Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc. When I politely asked to stay on the same white he looked rattled and irritated. When (like another table) we pointed out that our whole main was not even warm, he listened and apologised and said that he would advise the Chef. No further apology was made or any gesture given. When the bill came there was not even a minor amount taken off and so I complained. The senior waiter disappeared to talk to his manager and reappeared 15 minutes later while we were left standing waiting to leave. Eventually we received a grudging £40 discount. The bill was nearly £500 but the service was ill mannered and not befitting the Roux standards. I would never go back and cannot recommend that anyone should go there
My friends treated me and the ladies to an afternoon tea for my recent birthday and what a treat. The surrounds are just out of this World, they really are breath-taking and the staff in particular Elinor and Iris were just a delight to us. We spent several hours sipping pink champagne and eating cake. Thank you for the birthday plate and the 'doggy bag ' was certainly welcomed!
I have seen alot of reviews mentioning dinner only but I have to comment on the food in general. We stayed recently and quite frankly were blown away by the food all round. From the scone we had on arrival, to the unbelievable dining experience and to the breakfast the following morning with the best bacon ever, we were truly treated to a culinary all round delight! And what a pleasure to see the chefs in and out the dining room.
