One time, I arrived on a Monday afternoon before the pub opened, but the landlord opened up just for my friend and me, serving us a much-needed beer. We sat outside under the covered seating area with the heaters on, a truly enjoyable experience. I would recommend this pub to anyone looking for tasty pub food and a great selection of beers and wines.
When it comes to the food, I have memories of coming here for Sunday lunch with my mum and wife years ago. We sat down and waited for someone to acknowledge us, take drink orders, and provide menus, but unfortunately, no one did. In the end, we left because it was clear that no one cared about the customers. It seems like this pub may only cater to locals. It's a shame that in this day and age, owners allow country pubs to operate in such a neglectful manner.
I was excited to try a meal at the Rising Sun restaurant, so I stopped by during lunchtime to check out the menu since it was pizza night. I was told that food was ordered at the till. I arrived, ordered a pizza and drinks. The beer was great and the wine was okay, although when I asked for a blush wine, the only option available was a white Zinfandel. After another round of drinks, I inquired about the pizza and it finally arrived an hour and fifteen minutes later. I was disappointed to find that the pepperoni pizza was undercooked and subpar. I wish I had taken a photo of it. Overall, I was very disappointed with both the food and the service and would not recommend this restaurant.
Went for lunch, had a basket meal, perfect and very reasonable. Highly recommend this pub, first visit, certainly return.
We arrived and ordered at and did not receive our food until We had tried to book a table inside but were told it was fully booked inside although it was practically empty the whole hours we were there (although there were...people outside) The waitress was rude. She singled us out as young couples to make us pay as soon as we had ordered. I can understand concern that people may leave without paying when sat outside but they did not do this to any of the surrounding tables. The burgers were wet, the lasagne was dry and crispy, the nachos had practically no toppings. All had clearly been sat under a heat lamp for a long time. We had to ask multiple times where our food was and told twice that we were next in the queue before another waiter finally told us that there was a wait and apologised. Would not recommend. I can guarantee that the meals we received were not worth the wait we had or the price we paid.
