This place is omni, but they have some good vegan options for suppe, salat and packing. they usually have about 6 suppen, of which 3 vegan. I tried the mushroom soup and loved it that it filled, thick, and had many different types of mushrooms without feeling too hard. I tried the kale and quinoa packaging that was good. They have different salads that they have and fill a salatbox some beautiful vegan, healthy and tasty combinations. the staff is quite friendly. there are no vegan labelling, but the people who serve me could inform me what is vegan. (updating seems to be veg and vegan labeling) there are very limited seating (approximately three sitting on a bartheke) and it is a bit tight so I don't plan to eat. updated from previous review to 2017-10-25
I enjoyed the suppe and packaging I had here. 3 from the 5 suppenants were vegan. it is a very small western cafe type facility. the personal was really friendly. they had some meat options that my omni friend really enjoyed.
Today after an incomplete first visit before a few weeks, when the bar table that has three was full. around 2.15 o'clock there were two employees in the load, but only one served; the other seemed to be busy with paperwork. it was quite waiting as there were two ladies before me with tear-off orders. it is not a mistake of the staff, which was of course very friendly, but I hope that more employees will be employed in the rule during the lunch hour. I chose a soup salad set that cost hkd83. from memory, there were two, if not three, vegetarian soups. there was a selection of ten salates, of which seven were marked vegetarian. from the Veggie options, one was marked with pesto and gorgonzola pasta salat and another, artichoke, spinat and mushroom salad with a kind of powder. I thought it would be, but not in demand. they can choose three salads to pack in the box. the boiled carrot soup was rich, thick and tasty. my experience with the salates was however mixed. the first (rocket/cale/ice with lemon pickling) was tender and refreshing, although the mais suspected of combed sweet mais (again, I did not ask and could be wrong). my other two choices (thai broccoli quinoa salat and thymian burned sweet salad) were disappointing blah. while the veggies were fresh and al dente, the Thai salad was particularly dry and blande, so it felt so much as if no dressing had been added a fall of uneven tossing perhaps? I had to mix the Quinoa/Brukkoli with the lemon dressing of the first salat to be a bit paler. I was then the only din-in customer and found it still very loud, what with glowing Irish music coupled with a whispering mixer a few meters away! if they want another possibility for salate, a few shops away is passionate caffe on the corner of the moy road and johnston road. it is a meat, but has a series of delicious vegetarian salads. and if it is a 100% vegetarian suppe salat bar, friesca in the middle is the place to go.
I intend to follow up on this to see how this place is. I will re-draft the review accordingly. Updated from previous review on Monday March 09, 2015 I agree with much of what has been said before by other reviewers. 1stly I asked what was vegan. I don't think they get asked that too often as the gentleman serving me was unsure of what that meant and also of which dishes were compliant. Very sensibly he called on the input of the chef to guide us. There's 6 dishes in big serving pots. 1 is chilli con carne and another is chicken soup. The 4 remaining soups I was told were vegetarian including 3 that are vegan (one of the soups contained cheddar). I was then directed to the other part of the counter. There's a mix of salads (e.g. pasta, quinoa, mixed veg) and sandwiches. Some were meat based, some contained cheese (feta by the look of things) and a couple we vegan. I thus plumped for a soup and salad combo deal. The pumpkin soup tasted just as you would expect pumpkin soup to taste. The quinoa salad was running a low so I was offered a combo of that with the mixed veggies. This was fine as well. At the end I have to say that I was pretty full. I prefer places that are 100% vegetarian so I would like to be transparent about that (in other words I would rate this place higher out of 5 if it was 100% vego). Where places like come in especially useful for me are when dining with someone who refuses to eat vegetarian. Places such as this offer a reasonable compromise option.
