Alamo Tamales Taco - Houston

Ive been coming here for years. But recently I had a bad order of barbacoa. I order 3 pounds and 2 dozen tamales. The BBQ was fatty, chucks of fat, it was bad. Tamales had little meat. I had company over for breakfast showing off the quality of the BBQ and tamales. It was bad. Spent. Over 100 dallors bad experienced.

Tamales are good quality, however like all tamales they need salsa. 3 tiny one ounce containers of salsa for 1 dozen order of tamales is not enough. The prices are already on the higher end so you would expect enough salsa for your tamales. I’ll go find the señora selling them in a parking lot somewhere before I return for their overpriced items.

This place is ridiculous.. if I could give a negative rating I would! The service is horrible; they are all rude from the front line servers to the cashiers. To top that off their ridiculous “rules” that they have put in place are mid blowing! If you take to-go, you can’t get anything from the serve bar! And if you want a barbacoa taco for breakfast, you need to pay for the barbacoa separately, the tortilla separately and you have to do it yourself bc they CAN’T! No other restaurant in Houston does this! I’ve come to El Alamo for years and each time I come the service and food quality have gone down. This will definitely be my last time coming and as I can get great food anywhere else without it being a struggle each time.

Always a good time here! I went early in the morning and I highly recommend that to beat the crowd sometimes. I haven’t been here in years and it’s exactly the same as I remember. Very consistent. The sauces were off the chain as usual! Love this place and will always be back when I’m in the area. They also seem like they will continue to expand.

BEST most authentic Mexican tamales in Houston! Not only are their tamales bomb but the variety of Mexican antojitos are superb! I can buy them one day and put them back in the toaster oven the next days and they still taste great. I've been there on their most busiest days with the line to the door but their organization and efficiency gets the line down and you out the door in no time!
