Love the cloth decorations that are hanging from the ceiling, and the lighting. While I was there they were playing the kind of music you would expect to hear, which is always nice. The staff were also friendly. My server was attentive, and made sure I never ran out of soda. Now, onto the food. It was great! It was hot, and fresh. It was also surprisingly spicy! I ordered the buffet, and expected it to be comparable to the food at the buffet at Sitar. Most of the dishes I had were spicier than the offerings at Sitar. They weren 't so spicy that most people wouldn 't be able to enjoy them though. I am sure if you are a bit 'Sensitive to heat ' you could order something off the menu, and ask the spice be toned down a bit. All in all, a great experience. I am so glad to have an Indian restaurant near my home and work. :
Words cannot express how long I have waited for an authentic Indian restaurant to pop up in this part of the city. I love Sitar and all, don 't get me wrong, but driving to and on Jordan Lane is an absolute nightmare, and don 't EVEN get me started on the parking; that goes for pretty much all sit-down restaurants on Jordan Lane...yikes! This location alleviates all those problems: It 's in the middle (literally, the middle of a well-known and bustling shopping center, and the parking has always been plentiful. Now, regarding the restaurant itself...I already had high hopes, being a huge fan of Indian cuisine, so, admittedly, I had my proverbial bar set rather high when I first walked inside last weekend. But, despite that, this place still exceeded my expectations! The decor, the atmosphere, the pricing, the presentation of the food, the taste, everything is fantastic! I personally like the photos on the wall that were taken in the various states of India (Goa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, etc. . It seems that, menu-wise, this place has all of the bases covered when it comes to the different kinds of cuisine you can find in Indian restaurants: From the obvious curry to the vindaloo and more, the variety here is on point. Pricing? Man, talk about a deal; nothing on the menu hit me as being too expensive, and the portion sizes range from what you would expect to deceptively large. When they first brought out my side of Basmati rice to go with my Chettinad Chicken, at first I was like 'Oh, that 's not that much, ' but then I poured it onto the big plate I was brought and was instantly proven wrong; SO much rice...but that 's certainly not a bad thing! Especially considering Basmati rice isn 't as filling as other variants. As far as criticisms go, I don 't really have that much of any, to be honest. One thing I did notice was that, regarding the buffet, while the labeling is nicely presented and easy to read, I think they would benefit from defining what exactly the choices on the buffet are, as I 'm certain not everyone will automatically know what a dish is going to consist of by just looking at the Indian name without a quick Google search. If the flash cards they use for labeling can 't fit all that, I think they could probably put up a poster or such on the wall right above the buffet dishes and put all the definitions on there. Other than that, I didn 't really have any complaints! Staff were very welcoming, the wait time was just right, and the taste of the food practically took my taste buds for a long road trip straight through India. Really impressed with this place so far, and hope it is here to stay for a long time!
We went Saturday for dinner and it was fabulous! Six of us and everyone loved their food. The server was super sweet and the whole experience was wonderful. Definitely recommend trying it. We will be back!
You have to try this place! It is a wonderful, family-owned restaurant. The owners and staff are so sweet and they really make you feel welcome when you are there. You can tell a lot of heart went into the charming decor and into the food. This is hands down the best Indian food I have ever had.
Best butter chicken in town! The food is great. We tried the tandoori chicken as well and loved it. The naan is great, too.
