Came in for my lady's breakfast and ordered the outlaw ribeye, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Also had the crab cake. My lady ordered a Filet crab cake brocolini and lobter mac. The food was so good steaks were perfect med rare those mashed potatoes were insane. No complaints and the service was A1. Definitely will be our place of choice when fine dining.
Great food, service, and atmosphere. This will be our Columbus go to.
Fantastic experience, food was delightful and I’m a bit of a steak snob. Wonderful and attentive servers. Will definitely go back.
My wife and I decided to celebrate her birthday by having dinner at J. Gilbert's and were excited for the experience based on reviews and recommendations. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to expectations. The service was extremely poor from start to finish. We arrived at 7:00pm sharp, which was our reservation time. The hostess took our names and promptly disappeared for so long that two different servers, who were both carrying food, came to the front to ensure we had been helped. When the hostess finally returned they proceeded to seat a couple who arrived after us before she seated us. Once seated, we waited no less than 10 minutes for our server to come to the table with water and to take our drink orders. The drinks took another 15 minutes to arrive. It took over 30 minutes for us to be seated, greeted, and brought drinks on a Tuesday night when the restaurant was less than 50% full. The slow service continued throughout the meal and was capped off by us waiting 15 minutes for our cake to arrive after placing our dessert order. Our server was friendly, but did not offer any information about the menu, restaurant, or engage with us on any level. My wife and I would have been happy to deal with poor service if the food was worth the wait, but it wasn't. My steak was cooked properly but the crab cakes had an overly fishy taste to them. The asparagus was nearly raw with little to no seasoning. My wife's scallops were overcooked and the accompanying risotto was soggy. Overall, the food was not worth the price and the poor service only made the experience worse. If you are looking to spend $50-100 per person for a nice meal, there are far better experiences around Columbus. We do not plan to return.
