The hotel is located in beautiful Isenthal. The hospitality of the lady host is fantastic. She came and sat next to us to discuss the menu for Diner, and made us feel the guests in her home. Thank you for this very beautiful experience!!
Me and my girlfriend decided to split our trip (Genoa to Strasbourg) and spend one night in this hotel. We arrived in late 11:30 PM but no problem; the very kind owner lives there and after a call received us. The structure is awesome and...typical. The room is clean and is bed very confortable. There is a private parking. Breakfast is very very good, typical and generous.
We had an amazing meal at this Gasthaus! The lovely lady that served us didn't speak much English, but we muddled through with the little bit of German we did know and a translator app. She was very gracious about the language barrier, and was...very open and friendly. The atmosphere was beautiful, and the setting very beautiful in the lush green valley. I had fresh veal cordon blue made with cheese right from Isenthal and potato croquettes the food was heavenly and the best meal I had on our 2 week trip through Germany, Austria and Switzerland. When we finished the meal and said goodbye, the lady gave us each a postcard of the town, and we felt truly lucky to have found such a great place for a meal.
We decided to eat out during our stay in Isenthal and ate at this restaurant. The first problem was the language barrier but the lady owner was bubbly, vivacious and endeavoured to communicate with us, the whole experience turned into a bit of fun. We...managed to order our meals so we knew what we were getting....sort of. My husband ordered wild deer ..... a first and it had an extremely strong flavour to our Australian palate. I had schnitzel and chips!!!! The meals were well presented although a couple of the garnishes were unusual. The whole experience is probably going to become one of our most talked about holiday adventures. If you are in this town .......take a risk and eat local, at least once. This restaurant seemed to have more of the authentic Swiss atmosphere and decor than the other in town.
