Be Wings - Isla Mujeres

The only reason I’m giving this place one star is because the bartender, Laura, was an absolute delight. Friendly, fun, attentive, and made great drinks. My husband and I chose to walk away from the main drag of Hidalgo in search of a quieter bar not blaring American music. Be Wings is a nice looking establishment with swings... seems popular with a younger crowd. We spent a couple of hours, ordered quite a few drinks and a plate of wings (small, but tasty). Our bill was around $60 American... Visa and MasterCard signs all over the bar. Handed over our credit card, the waitress brought it over to the twenty-something manager, and we were then told the “credit card machine didn’t work”. This has happened to us several times down in Mexico over the years, and even happened the same day at a golf cart rental place, but never in an established restaurant. We didn’t just have a drink each... it was a decent about of money to spend. I know they get charged 6% on credit cards, but to advertise that they take them, them LIE about the machine being broken, is so dishonest and such a $hitty thing to do to tourists. Luckily we had enough pesos on hand to cover the bill, but we made it clear we were unhappy. Then another manager/staff member came over to us when it was obvious we were angry and said that the machine was actually working again by some serendipitous technological miracle... after we had already forked over the cash. Disgusting. Avoid this place. Dishonest scam artists!!!!

Stopped at Be Wings to have a couple of drinks and chill for a while our Bartender was very attentive and friendly bar and restrooms very clean. We will defiantly go back to this bar and recommend to family and friends. Very child friendly as well.

BE Wings... I had the best time, I think. It could be the happy hour margaritas buy one get one that questions my memory, or the three shots of reposado I had. Hey everything good comes in tres. I do remember our lovely bartender gal from the states, she had the best music playing, Shelia E my baby takes the morning train..... you know who you are!! We started in a cozy table, working our way to the swings attached to the outside looking in. What a great time. I laughed, drunk dialed my sister to tell her I loved her, and yes I cried, happy tears, but nonetheless tears at the bar. Oh Be Wings you were good to us.

The wings are a bit smaller than what I’m used to, but the generous portion more than make up for this and the interesting availability of flavors makes this a go-to place for quick eats or light meal. The music and hanging swing seats give this place a unique atmosphere.

We stopped in here several times for margaritas. They were delicious, not too tart or too sweet! Also had nachos and they were very good as well! Like I said, our favorite margaritas!!
