We stopped in at Sonnys for a pizza last night and it was huge and was amazing my daughter ordered meatballs and also was awesome. Ice cold beer and great friendly service. Owner is from Canada stopped over and talked to us for a while great guy. We even seen him give a pizza to two small local girls hanging around his restaurant. Dont miss Sonnys Pizza while on Isla. I had only been here once before this year. I had asked for a glass of wine. The server brought me basically a shot of wine. I told him that was a short poor, as I'm a bartender, I know how to pour wine. The manager David, came over and argued with me but in the end added more wine to my glass. But after that he was completely and totally rude. I then went last night with two friends because the pizza is good. However none of the beers I preferred on the menu were available. The server told me to get my own so I went next door and bought a can of beer. While I was gone, the server made an extremely rude comment to my friends directed at me. I come back with my unopened beer and set it on the table and the manager David, lost his mind. Yelled at me told us to leave that I can't bring my own alcohol even though it wasn't even opened yet. The pizza is all right but the servers are rude and disrespectful and the manager david, is just an obnoxious rude human being. He has no idea how to manage a good restaurant. With all the choices on Isla, pick a place where they appreciate your business and where they are not rude and disrespectful.
We stopped in for dinner, just the two of us, on May 3rd. We got there just before a birthday party so the timing was perfect. But we would have waited had it been necessary. It's that good. We knew we wanted the margarita pizza (yes, I know I spelled it wrong, lol) so ordering was easy. Now, admittedly I am a pizza snob. I grew up in New York so I know pizza. I know what a good pizza is. I know what a bad pizza is and I know what an excellent pizza is. Living in Cancun I know that good pizza is tough to find. Excellent pizza is almost impossible. Abd that goes for the whole area. Not just Cancun. When it comes to the margarita pizza it has to be perfect. It's so simply that there's no room to hid mediocrity. Cheese, sauce, basil and crust must be exactly on point. If not you can tell at the first bite and really what's the point, right? Life is too short to eat mediocre pizza. Sonny's Pizza delivers excellence all the way around. The crust is thin but not dry like a cracker. There's no huge section of crust at the end. The topping covers the entire pizza. You can taste the freshness in the tomato's sauce which has perfect sized chunks of fresh tomatoes. The cheese is sheer perfect. You can tell it not from some bag that comes already shredded. And the basil is fresh and aromatic and perfectly placed with one basil leaf per slice. We just couldn't have asked for better pizza or a better host. As busy as they were David made sure to check on each table as did his wait staff. He even found time to bring out a to go order to a woman and her son. I would have paid double what we did for that pizza and been happy to do so. But the prices are very reasonable and it's one of only a very few places that has not substantially raised their prices recently. It wasn't the first time we've eaten there and it won't be the last. We've already got their albóndigas (meat balls) pizza in our mind for next week. So do yourself a favor and when you're in the mood for pizza skip the others and go straight to the best.... Sonny's Pizza. I know you'll be happy you did.
Súper tasty pizza. Excelent service from the female attender. Allows to combine two kinds in one. Offers mosquito spray when sitting outsider.
