The atmosphere felt more so of like a pub of some sorts. It was clean and plenty of seating around. However, it was pretty empty when we came on a Sunday. There was a plasma screen showing the football game on the other side of the restaurant. The have a staff shortage and we were patient and understanding. However, the order of our food came at awkward times. My husband's food came way ahead (he ordered the beef bowl) of mines and we couldn't eat together or else his food would get cold. I got the black bean burger and yuca fries and instead of the fries coming out with the burger, it came out way before the burger. My husband's beef bowl came out 10 minutes after ordering. The yuca fries came 15 minutes after ordering and my black bean burger came like 40 minutes after the yuca fries. My ratings on the food:Beef bowl: 5.5/10 I tried some of my husband's and it was super saucy and salty. The beef was more of a corned beef hash consistency and while the flavor was there, it was overly salty. My husband had to eat some of my yuca fries to balance the saltiness. The rice to beef ratio was off and he was left with rice soup after he ate all the beef. Yuca fries: 7/10 it came with 8 big pieces and was steaming hot when we got it. It also came with an aioli that was delicious. They added some sort of seasoning on it that made it flavorful. I enjoyed the yuca fries as they were cooked perfectly and nice and hot.Black bean burger: 7.5/10 I loved the flavor of the black bean burger and it was cooked like how I liked it, nice and crisp around the edges. It's definitely homemade and I enjoyed the toppings with the burger. It came with a slaw, avocado, chimichurri sauce on the side, and a spicy chipotle sauce that all went well together. The patty itself, contained corn and was seasoned very well. However, I would not pay $13 for it again. It did not come with fries and I had to pay an additional $4.20 for the yuca fries. So that's like a whopping $17.20 for both burger and fries. However, it did come with a very small serving of macaroni salad, so I wasn't too mad about that. The macaroni salad was okay. I had a lot of mac salad in my lifetime as I love mac salad and this was mediocre. Not the greatest, but decent. Ube ice cream: 3/10 disappointing. They didn't even give us a full scoop but half of a scoop. It wasn't homemade and we knew exactly what brand it came from. I understand it was $2, but wish they would at least give us a full scoop instead of half a scoop. Everything was on the pricier side and to be fairly honest, I don't think we would come back. The food was just okay. It wasn't great nor was it bad but we wouldn't go out of our way. Service was nice but not outstanding. As far as being a healthier alternative, I don't know as a lot of items on the menu were definitely calorie bombs. I really wanted to like this place but I left disappointed. However, I encourage you to try this restaurant out, as you might have a different experience and palette than I do.
The only saving grace was the nice person at the register. She was working extremely hard. They have a sign that says they are short staffed and as a former food service employee myself I felt for them. However, that being said the quality of the food was one of the worst I have ever seen. This is how my burger came ...and it was $18 (five yuca fries came on the side). The fries were overly salty and there was no avocado or sauce, both of which were promised on the menu. I almost wanted to I really hope they can get more staff because I did not mind waiting, but this was inedible.
I was so excited to see vegan options downtown , and did not disappoint! I had a tofu bowl that was flavorful and filling. I ate every morsel. I will definitely be back.
We arrived at 1:00 pm. My wife ordered Lumpia, I ordered a Double from the breakfast menu (2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 toasts). 10-15 minutes later my wife 's food arrived. 10 minutes after that I asked about my food. We 'll have it out soon. 10 more minutes, I stated we had to get back to work and got a few more minutes . After a 'few more minutes ' we asked why such a simple order is taking so long, and got, The cook is not trained in this . We expressed our dissatisfaction, got a refund and left. The couple that had just ordered, who heard the staff tell us there was no one there who knew how to prepare 2 eggs over easy (or perhaps it was the toast that mistified them) also got a refund and left. The staff kept us waiting for more than half an hour, for the entire time that I had for lunch, knowing that they were not going to deliver. The attitude was we never intended to get you your food, but really wanted to see how long you were willing to hang out here . No other explanation fits. They could not have been thinking maybe he won 't remember we didn 't bring his food . Or, Maybe the boss will hire someone who can actually cook what 's on the menu, and that person will get hired, onboarded, and show up here in the next five minutes . When I got home this evening, I prepared my on meal. 2 eggs over easy, 2 bacon strips, 2 sausage patties and 2 toasts. It took 5 minutes 50.39 seconds. This was the first time I have ever made eggs over easy, but I figured it out. I am available to teach my newfound skill if required.
Excellent service. Delicious food. Clean environment. Loved it all. One bit of advice. Yes, it’s primarily a brew spot, but obviously some people will not be having beer and would prefer wine with their meal. I would like to have seen a better offering than Woodbridge so had kombucha instead. But other than that it was great and I’d go back.
