Other customers seemed confused and not tended to. Lots of staff had also probably left for school. Ok. The dining room vibe was awkward but that was really set by the other diners. The food was mediocre for the price and flavor level. I enjoyed the lobster salad as an appetizer (which is all warm—artichokes, sundried tomatoes, lobster, grilled corn, etc but warm which is fine but not what I expected...but I like it) the lobster risotto was unimpressive and the black linguine was good on the pasta texture but swimming in a pool of too much garlic and olive oil. Meh. Ok.
Well the selection was very small. waitress was very nice. atmosphere was nice. the app's were fair. the rice pilaf not good either my wife's southern veggies not good the Spanish fish we had was the worse fish we ever had. besides how many bone's in it. we were very disappointed in all we stop on way home to pick up a sandwich I heard so many good things about it but I wish I could say the same.
Last day of the season so they were out of many things on the menu. Was disappointed when some items were not on my plate and the server didn’t tell me about it in advance.
I was underwhelmed with the food. The ingredients were first rate, but the chef overwhelmed with overly aggressive choices. The pan seared monkfish was a wonderful piece of fish perfectly cooked, then the chef drowned it in a very intensely flavoed Madeira sauce that would have worked well with a steak, but simply overwhelmed the fish. The scallops were excellent but could have used a hotter pan to really sear them. One of the biggest disappointments was the light and perfectly cooked buttermilk panna cotta that was spoiled by a coating of a very tangy and chunky chutney. Fresh fruit or a dazzle of honey would have allowed the delicate custard to take center stage. Be aware, from the prices charged this place must think they are in Boston or New York.
Six of us had an 8p reservation on Saturday of restaurant week. We very much enjoyed the company of our friends and the ambience, but that was the end of the good. Our appetizers were fair; the wings, ceasar, calamari, and crudo. Fair. The local oysters treated with granita and roe were overpowered and barely recognizable as oysters to the taste. The mains, terrible. Monktail preparation was odd and flavorless, sablefish was atrociously a hard-crusted shell hiding a whole fish worth of bones and 3 bites of fish, scallops -flavorless and went unfinished, and tenderloin sliced thin like roast beef overpowered by peppercorn sauce. Desserts, generally unremarkable. We enjoyed the blueberry ice cream and banana cream something or another. We did not complain while there, but we should have. Two of six in our party had previous good experience at Fish. We’re not sure what happened this night.
