Cavernous, mellow space, with lots of covered outside seating as well. 8—10 beers on tap, with a few additional offerings (ie cider, wine) a small cocktail list. I'm not really sure how I'd rate the pizza; I grew up in the Midwest and find Detroit pies on the left coast to be akin to Chicago pies on the left coast--the general concept is there, but the rest is some pale twist on the original.
Another favorite of ours. We discovered this place when we started visiting friends in Portland. We now live here and it's our go-to spot after a nice hike at Powell Butte. Can't say enough about the Detriot-style pizza and now that I'm watching my carbs, it will be hard to resist. The beer is great and staff is always friendly. They have plenty of seating, which is awesome.
Went to elementary school through high school with the owner, George. I remember when he moved to our city in 4th grade. Nice guy. Had dreads and played “The Four Horsemen” by Metallica on bass. Knowing George, the name “Assembly” is likely in reference to the Motor City’s automotive industry, but also for his affinity for Industrial music and the band “Frontline Assembly”. I wish I could try some of this Pizza and Beer! Go George!!! <3
Fabulous Detroit style pizza (thick, chewy crust with the requisite caramelized edges and simple sauce on top) and a decent beer selection. My Collage pale ale was crisp and clean. Every employee we encountered was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The interior is relaxing and spacious with tables placed a nice distance from each other. The fact that it’s 21 and over only is a huge bonus! We will be back!
