I went today to the park city farmers market (9/22/2021) and the stand of the volker was prominent and decided to buy a brot. I spoke to one of the young behind the counter and decided to take the Jalapeno/Käsebrot. I bought it without looking at the bottom and Lo-and-beyond it was barely boiled and a very light brown, very drying. This is not the first time that happened to me at volker. they do not seem to know how to bake the floor/bow to make their brot crumbling and it always turns out to be barely cooked and teig. very inconspicuous, and I threw out all the broth. I am generous by giving volkers 1 star as I would have given them zero (0) stars if available. I do not recommend volkers brote definitiw and I propose to go to the market in park city and look at their red bike bakery brote.
They have the most delicious bakery, especially the apfelstrudel.
I have to say I am very disappointed . We bought a loaf of Jewish Rye for $10 at the Ogden Farmers Market just to get home and it was stale. We have purchased it the past (not paying that much and have always enjoyed it. Can’t say we will buy again
I this unique bread! Volker's bread truck is at Shephard of Mountain near The Canyons Resort, Friday and Saturday from noon 4 pm this Winter.
We stopped by their tent in Park City during a Park Silly Event to pick up some bread. Their booth was nice and the staff was happy to take to us about the different products they had on offer. Everything looked delicious but... We got an olive focaccia and a Tuscan sourdough loaf and both were just meh. The focaccia did not have that rich olive oil taste and was just dry. While the tuscan sour dough didn't have a nice crust, was dense and had almost no flavor. Look I'm a bread guy, I loooove bread, I make bread, I've been to bread classes, and I am excited to try new bread. But sadly this just didn't scratch any bread itch for me. So it will be a pass for me the next time I'm in town no matter how delicious it looks.
