Such a cool and quirky restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is never boring, there’s so much to look at, the decor is very unique. Staff are super attentive and bubbly, they all seem to be really enjoying their work. Food is delicious! Large serving sizes and plenty of variety on the plate. Higher recommended and a great place to unwind after a day of hiking the blue mountains.
Quirky themed restaurant, not my particular taste however was still very charming. The staff were lovey and friendly. Husband and I shared spring rolls and they were delicious. I had slow cooked roast lamb and it fell apart. It was a tad dry though but the tasty jus it came with balanced that out. My husband had a eye fillet and he said was cooked perfectly to his choice and for dessert we had chocolate cake and lemon macadamia cheesecake, which was to die for. They appeared to be home made which made it even better.
We went to the Avalon because another well known establishment was closed. We are so happy they were! The service was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Looking for something different for dinner? Tired of the same old choices? Then look no further than the Avalon. The food was nothing short of sensational. Be prepared though, the servings are VERY generous. We shared an entree and were so glad that we did, it was big enough for two. The main courses left no room for desert. I had the pulled beef which was excellent. The locally brewed stout was one of the best that I have tried. We will come back next time we visit Katoomba.
The moment you walk into the Avalon you realise you're in for something special. It's like entering a bygone era with wonderful art-deco style with charm and excitement of the theatre. Upon heading upstairs towards the restaurant you pass a fantastic bar and lounge that would be right at home in a Hollywood film of the 40's. Then we were greeted by the absolutely lovely staff who could not have been more helpful. This set the mood for a brilliant evening but it wouldn't amount to much if the food wasn't up the expectations. Fortunately our meals exceeded them! The Lamb in particular was phenomenal. There was plenty of local craft beer options as well as wine and some incredible cocktails. We can highly recommend The Avalon for a special occasion, celebration or just an incredible meal.
