Kurry Walah - Katy

When she saw that we ordered our usual dishes, she suggested trying a new appetizer, samosa chaat, and a chicken dish, kadai chicken. As always, her recommendations were fantastic, and we’ve never had anything we didn’t enjoy here. I highly recommend the food! However, I must provide an update. I’m not sure what changed—perhaps the owner was having a bad day—but he didn’t allow the substitutions we have usually done before. I wonder if there’s been a policy change. He mentioned that in his 3.5 years of operation, they’ve never denied substitutions. Personally, I find rejection harder to accept than simply not getting what I asked for. It’s unclear if the staff made this decision without his knowledge or if policies have truly shifted, which he denied. Additionally, the owner seemed a bit rude, which was unexpected, as they were always very warm and friendly, often remembering my name. This sudden shift in behavior is disheartening because the food is excellent, and I want this to be my go-to spot for Indian cuisine. Unfortunately, I can't overlook poor customer service, which has caused me to lower my rating from 5 stars to 3. I truly hope this situation improves, as I would happily raise my rating back to 5 stars! This place is a gem for Indian food in Katy! It’s surprising that there aren’t more Indian restaurants here, given the size of the Indian community. However, even if there were more options, Kurry Walah would undoubtedly stand out! We wanted to sample as many dishes as possible on our first visit, so we ordered the thali, which is essentially a sampler for two (though the portions are so generous that it could easily serve three). We also got a lacha paratha on the side, which was delicious! The masala chai was robust and kept me energized for quite a while. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was cozy. Honestly, I can’t think of any reason to deduct even a single star. I wholeheartedly recommend this place, especially coming from someone who knows Indian cuisine!

Best Indian food in Katy! The staff and owners are always welcoming and friendly. While I waited for my to-go order, my toddler was busy checking out the place, and the owner kindly gave me a complimentary bottle of wine to make things easier. The food is consistently delicious, hot, and expertly prepared. Thank you, Kurrywalah! Keep up the great work!

We had lunch with my family today for the first time, and it was wonderful! The food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. Our 3-year-old son even loved the food! We will definitely be coming back!

The second time we ate here. Take a lunch buffet for the first time. The price of the buffet is especially now excellent with inflation. Quality is great! Good selection of vegans and meat offers. Will be interesting to see if they change the menu at the buffet. Be back a lot. Service very nice and toddlers eat free! Excellent experience

Such nice and hospitable staff! The food was great! I asked for my goat vindaloo to be spicy and the chef did not disappoint at all!!! Great play between spice and flavor. Definitely coming back with more friends. Keep up the great work. Mango Lassi was everything!!!!!
