Ichiban Sushi - Kelowna

Horrible service!!! Had a blonde server serve us, didn't catch her name but she was grumpy from the start. We asked for a table for 4 adults and 2 kids with 2 booster seats but she wasn't able to figure out a table for us and left the menu on a table and told us to figure out how we wanted to be seated. Since we needed 6 seats we connected a small table to a 4 seat booth for 6 seats on our own after she left us. After doing that the server was annoyed and told us to move the table back but did not offer us an option to be seated together. We then asked the sushi chef to speak to a manager after that point and was told the manager was not around. The restaurant was empty at 7pm with only one couple at a table. We decided on crossing the street to Momo Sushi which was jammed packed and couldn't get a table on the inside and was politely seated on the patio. There is obvious reasons why Ichiban was empty while another Japanese restaurant literally across the street is jammed packed. I cannot comment on their food but I DO NOT recommend this place due to the service.

The location is perfect right in the heart of kelowna. The food was really food the flaming dynamite roll was very nice. The salmon shashimi looked well prepared. Our server was nice. My teriyaki dish was good overall. All in all good selection on the menu. The service was good. My only knock was they needed another server or someone to clean the tables after the dinner rush. Still I recommend it.

Four of us came here for dinner recently. The service was well meaning but disorganized. The Agodashi Tofu was awful with underdone, not very crispy tofu and a bland meager sauce. The prawn tempera had too much batter and therefore while crispy on the outside was gooey near the prawn. The rice bowls were just average. Compared to any hot food the rolls were the best part of our meal by far but the presentation was still just okay. Improvement needed!!

Went hear to use a coupon deal. The deal has apparently changed - due to a recent change in ownership - which allowed a la carte ordering which wasn't too bad.Service is a bit slow and haphazard. Inefficient and somewhat disorganised more than deliberately slow. Food is o.k., not great but not bad either Not the best (compared to offerings on the coast) but probably o.k. for Kelowna.Might be better to order set dinners.

Ichiban is ok but wouldn't be my first choice of sushi restaurants in Kelowna. They do have a lot of selection. The service is not great and it is difficult to have a quick work lunch.
