Now no longer veggie. The Veg they use is very simple and not inspired. Not sure why they would convert into a meat-based menu after having brought an exec cook from flora?! They should focus on making their entire food approach more exciting, less bulky. Disappoint. You have a meat club here. They talk to vegans, etc. bulls, yes, at a school.
This place is really cafeteria style, but it is a great find in a small town where veg*n decisions are very limited. I visited a Friday when the special was Avocado Wraps (vegan), they also had some hot choices and salad bar. The pack also had tomatoes, salad, spices and oils and so, it was quite good, but a little too big for me. You choose the one you want and pay per pound, but I had a hard time to see how much I want. I also tried the watermelon Greek salad, which was surprisingly good, only problem was finally discovered that it had feta in it (I am vegan), still good flavors in it. I had a vegan pumpkin bread for Dessert-Yummy! I also noticed some gluten-free selections. I think this venue is good for people nearby who do not want to cook lunch or breakfast once in awhile, or perhaps to meet a friend, but there are only not many food choices available. My whole meal was under $5, so the prices are decent.
Given that this is cafeteria food, it's actually quite good. I worked at Bastyr for a month and had the chance to eat here a few times. The food is fairly fresh, and the atmosphere is welcoming.
The restaurant has undergone some changes and is no longer vegetarian. The vegetable dishes they now offer are quite basic and lack creativity. It's puzzling why they shifted to a meat-based menu after hiring an executive chef from Flora. Instead of embracing a more exciting and streamlined whole food approach, they seem to have lost their focus. It's quite disappointing. Additionally, they have a meat club that disparages vegans, which feels bullying, especially at a school like this.
