Here's my experience: We arrived around 9pm and the adjacent bar was mobbed. The bartender was slammed but when we got her attention we said we wanted to sit for dinner. She pointed us through the curtain to the actual restaurant. We entered a very dark, empty restaurant. Not a single person there. After a minute of standing around a nice lady sat us at a table and took our order for food. It was awkward, since we were the only ones there and seems inconvenient for the kitchen and the waitress. But she was very sweet. The saki I ordered wasn't good, I couldn't finish it. The food was decent, but everything was overly salty. My favorite was the deviled tea eggs, very pretty presentation, but it was a lot saltier than most deviled eggs. The sticky meatballs were also decent, but we weren't blown away. The chickpeas were OK, my husband didn't like them at all, so I got stuck eating the entire dish which we both thought was very salty. We didn't stay for dessert, and I wish we ordered different dishes given how the reviews seemed a lot better than what we were served. The waitress was very sweet but not very attentive, we had to flag her down twice to refill waters. And she never asked if the food was ok, we would have told her it's too salty. At the end of the meal I asked where's the bathroom. She pointed to the adjacent cocktail bar/lounge. So I walk through the curtain back to the lounge side, and there's one door for a bathroom and it's got 5-6 people waiting in line to use the bathroom. No thanks, I can't wait that long so I was frustrated and left, waiting to get home to use the bathroom. Overall, maybe the chef had an off night and the waitress was ready to go home.. either way our experience here will be our last unfortunately.
We went here for my 21st birthday and they would serve me but they would not serve my mother champagne because her ID is expired. Because of COVID it has been very difficult to get an updated ID but it just expired a few days ago. Very rude experience because the owners accused us of being cops and even claimed we were holding a sting operation. I felt very uncomfortable, they made me feel like I was out to get them. I really liked the atmosphere but with all of the accusations it made a cool experience very negative and sad.
My friend and I stopped by Tiger Bar our first night in Key West the food, service and atmosphere were absolutely amazing. We had the lumpia, Asian sticky balls, deviled tea eggs and a new artichoke small plate that ended up being my favorite. Chef Russ took the time to walk us through each dish and you could tell how much care and creativity he has put into this dining experience. I wish we had saved it for our last night because nowhere else we went could compare! Will definitely be back!
You should just come here. That could be the end of the review. Ha. Tiger bar is this teeny, dark, sexy little gem of a place. Definitely somewhere to go with your honey and linger over whatever adult beverage you like to drink. My husband and I had a really late dinner there last week. We sat at the bar and chatted with the Chef, Russ, like old buddies. Though I'm kind of put out that I couldn't get his coconut rice recipe out of him, I liked the guy anyway. Ha. We ate a bunch of things, but I will be dreaming about the goat curry with coconut rice and lumpia for a long time to come. Sometimes you have a meal that just makes you happy because the ambiance, food and company are all perfectly right. This was that meal for us--we will absolutely be back.
The best food we've had in Key West hands down! Such a unique experience from the decor to the service and all the food in-between. Highly, highly recommend going to eat dinner here at least once. It makes for a perfect date night. Very well-priced, too. And the champagne room right next door is beyond beautiful. We are looking forward to going back.
