Visited after a very sweaty walk from Chellaston. We made a spur of the moment decision to visit the Brewhouse for a beer and a bite to eat, over buying an ice cream, which was easily the best decision we’d made all day. Great selection of beers, and pizza was outstanding. My girlfriend is vegan, and all of their pizza options (without meat) could be made vegan. So we went for the Occhu Verdi originally, however it turned out pesto was used. The chap behind the bar came and found us, and made us aware, then offered an alternative, which was outstanding. The base was crispy, the rocket and pinenuts added great texture, and considering it was vegan cheese, the whole thing was delicious. Not a morsel leftover. Wasn't expecting to enjoy this place so much. It far exceeded my expectations. The only reason I gave 4star for atmosphere, was because we went early lunchtime and most sane people had swerved Melbourne due to heavy traffic for Download festival, so pretty quiet. Great pint and nice atmosphere. The food looked great. Also dog friendly but no water bowls. However the chap did bring biscuits round. Good selection of beer. Service: Dine in Meal type: Other Price per person: £10–20
