The food spread is good and so are the desserts. I tried their Sunday Brunch. They have a live grill counter facing the pool area. They have a little of everything. Chinese, Italian, Mexican, American and Indian. Salads and dips were excellent. Quite a few to choose from. I tried black garlic for the 1st time and it was so good.. well marinated and pickled. Loved the burrata and fruit salad. This was specially made for me. The small cucumber canopies were excellent too. The Chinese spread was good. The fried rice, noodles, gravy, Dimsum and a delicious babycorn, waterchestnuts, mushroom stirfry made for me. Enjoy colorful nachos with a delicious pineapple jalapeno salsa and tomato salsa not forgetting the cheese sauce. They have a live pasta counter. You can try some pizza too. I tried the Arancini here. The Indian spread had Chaat, farsan and mains. Dhokla, samosa, potli, patra, khandvi and fafda. My husband feasted on it. Loved the veg dum Biryani. It not only looked great but tasted fantastic. The Dal Makhani was delicious too. Loved it. Coming to desserts, loved the Sugar free brownie. It was crumbly and so good. The spread was really good. They have a small activity area for Children. They can play on a trampoline or paint pots. Overall a lovely experience 1teaspoonlove recommends Food-4.5/5 Service-4.5/5 Ambiance-4/5 Vfm-4.5/5 Return index-4.5/5

Novotel located next to Sun Sand Hotel in Juhu is hosting Dakshinee South Indian Food Festival at that restaurant The Square. The food festival is on from 16th August to 26th August and will have delicacies from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and some from Andhra Pradesh. For this food festival, Novotel has specially flown in Chefs Vineet from Novotel Kochi to assist the executive chef at Novotel Mumbai Chef Ashish. Novotel is already know for its North Indian food and this food festival is a pleasant surprise and a welcome change from their end. As soon as you enter The Square, a lavish spread awaits you. All South Indian delicacies are placed together, there are Live Counters as well and for the regular customers of Novotel who wouldn't want to be a part of this fest, have options from North Indian, Continental, Chinese, etc. After your meal is over, a grand desserts spread is available to cater to your sweet tooth! Plenty of options for Non Vegetarians, not covered in this review! Talking about what all I tried at Dakshinee Fest (veg options) We started with couple of drinks both Coconut based. Had the Kokum Kick and Virgin Pinacolada as mocktails. Nicely blended with Kokum and Pineapple respectively, something you can try. Next, had couple of starters, the Spicy Vegetable Cutlet and Kaya Varuval. Kaya means Banana and Varuval means deep fried. Both the starters were yummy. One can definitely get the rich flavour of the spices and masalas used from the South. After the starters, we tried the Vegetable Rasam Soup, a very popular Onam dish. Made of tamarind and boiled veggies like carrot, onion, tomato and cauliflower, the soup was nice and had rich texture. Not too sweet, not too spicy, just perfect! Next round was that of the Live Counter Dishes Appam, Kuthu Paratha and Dosa and Veg Pakoras! I tried the Potato Pakora, yummy! Although my favourite was the Appam given with Vegetable Stew! Appam was perfectly cooked and Vegetable Stew was reasonably sweet. A good combination! Next had the Kuthu (Kothu) Paratha very famous dish from Tamil Nadu. where Malabar Paratha (Parotta) is broken into pieces along with veggies like onion, tomatoes and green chillies along with other mix veggies like beans carrots and peas. This Paratha is available in Veg and Non Veg versions and is a must try at Dakshinee! Before the mains, I tried a couple of Salads Nadaan Kappa Thaalichatu Sweet Potato Salad and Parpu Sundal Split Yellow Lentils Salad! Salads are nice and one can try them as per their taste palette. Coming to the mains I was excited to try their Ghee Rice! It was divine and those who are Ok with the taste and flavour of Ghee must try this! Simply epic! I also tried 2 vegetables along with Malabar Paratha Vendakkai Masala (Okra cooked with Indian spices) and Pavakka Thenga Aracha Curry (Bitter Gourd cooked with Coconut Paste) Finally for desserts, tried few of them Banana Pudding (eggless), Pazham Pradhaman (eggless Banana Payasam), Aval Vilayichathu (eggless Jaggery candied Rice Flakes) and Semiya Payasam. Personally, I loved both the payasams and banana pudding as well! Would also like to mention some dishes available in the lavish spread at The Square and worth trying Starters Lasooni Paneer Tikka Mains Paneer Kundal Kalia, Steamed Rice with Dal Makhani and Kadi Pakoda and Baigan Masala Desserts Pannacotta with Fresh Fruits, Orange Rasgulla, Carrot Mascarpone Cake, Choux Brownies, etc. Part of the Accor Group of Hotels, I always look forward to Novotel's Food Fests they host. Special Thank you to Novotel and Accor Group for getting Dakshinee South Indian Food and South Indian Culture to Mumbai!
