On the way back home. Amazing ambience! Try the hot chocolate, it was perfect for the weather. (October 2021) Very cozy place with fireplace, pool table, board games.
The staff is great! But not your typical US hotel: small room, narrow halls, BR shared into the hall. But: just a few kilometers from trailheads to magnificent and unforgettable experience! If you want to stay at Strawberry Lodge for a hotel experience, spot the wrong tree! Strawberry Lodge is best appreciated as bed shower enroute to your true destination: walking / chimney top Pyramid Creek, climbing Lover's Leap, etc. And, I have mentioned that the staff is super!
Let me first say that the bed was comfortable and the price was right. We were in the building opposite the main hut. I'll like to prove it as Murder Lodge. We opened the door to the room to find that there is no phone, no TV and no clock. That was okay, but I didn't like there was a back door to our room that had a hole where the door handle was earlier and just a trap to lock it. Next we realized that a pickup truck parked right on the other side of the door within a few feet. The bathroom window had a curtain that had no privacy when the light was in the bathroom at night, everyone could see from outside. The window had a lock on only one side, so all night I watched someone break in and kill us. Even the shades on the front of the room did not fit into the window and there were gaps on the side and down someone could have looked into us. All in all, it was fine, just not expecting much. We will try the original lodge next time and hopefully feel a bit safer.
The only thing nice about this place is the elderly man that worked here when we checked in at night. I was warned it was a small room with two twin beds. But that was not the issues. The issue was there was no bathrooms in the rooms, there was a shared bathroom in the hall which upon arrival the men's bathroom was clogged with poop. There was no ac in the rooms either and not even a tiny TV which are soo cheap these days. Then in the morning I went to check the bathroom again because I needed to go number 2 and it was clean so I lock the door and begin to use it. THEN SOMEONE JUST UNLOCKED THE DOOR WHILE I WAS GOING!!! we go to check out then a young gentleman came and broke change for a lady then was just going to walk off without even acknowledging me!!! I was like excuse me I need to check out. Then he just told me rudely to throw them on the desk... horrible experience... the only nice thing was the old man at night who gave me an extra pillow and blanket and mattress pad.
