This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The food is good, but the real highlight is the atmosphere.
I tried the lunch set, which I believe was meant for two people. When I visited, I was the only customer there, so I had the opportunity to enjoy my meal in peace.
More than the food itself, This is a place to try for its surroundings in the beautiful Ryoanji Temple Recinct. After visiting the temple you have to go towards Teh Kyoyo-chi pond. The restaurant is on the left (there is also an English table). I speak Japanese, so no communication problem, but I think you can also deal with English, although there were no foreigners, both times I went there. You have two Shijin Set menus that turn around yudofu (created tofu). Updated by previous review on 2011-08-22
The main attraction here is boiled tofu and veggies. You can get some other dishes and rice along with it, but it is a bit pricey. Everything is delicious but there is not much variety. You are recommended to see the (smallish) Zen rock garden first on the way to the restaurant.
