The food was great, I enjoyed a perfectly well done veal T-bone together with a fantastic wine. The prices were a bit high (similar to what you would pay in Paris) but it was definitively worth it.
Lovely auberge on the middle of a village. Newly renovated. Rooms are small but beds are good with new bathroom facilities. Wifi not the best though free. Room with 2 bed € 72
We ate here because Cheval Blanc (in the next village) was closed: one of the two is always open. It is a much more traditional establishment. The atmosphere and décor are of an auberge in the Solange at any time from the 1960s onwards. The food is equally traditional, but well cooked and well presented: it is not rustic in any way. Service is efficient and very friendly. Remember to arrive very hungry - portions are generous with local produce. Try the veal for two and stick to the local wines. It would be difficult not to enjoy eating here.
Was nearby and needed a restaurant and came across the Auberge a la Tete de Lard. A very pleasant experience.Food excellent, service 5 star, very nice choice of wines at reasonable prices and overall really good value for money. Two of us having 3 course a la carte meals, a bottle of St Nicholas 2012 red, beers and coffees all for exactly €100.00The loss of the 5th star was the very unfortunate bad coffee. Have always come to expect good coffee, but this was dire. However, saying that, we recommend every time, but have something else other than coffee to finish.
We chose this restaurant as we were staying nearby for the night and had seen it recommended on Tripadvisor by a previous guest. We chose one of the set menus and enjoyed every bite of it! The extras of an amuse-bouche, olives, cheesy biscuits, bread and petit fours with the coffee made it great value plus we enjoyed the recommended aperitif of champagne with elderflower syrup. It was very quiet but I hope this was down to it being mid-week and just out of season as there were two other restaurants in the village that were closed and up for sale.
