Motomaki delivers, and does so consistently. I particularly like salmon poke, and I’ve found with other restaurants that the salmon is not always fresh, cut in chunks that are too large, or has bones. I’ve never had those problems with motomaki. The add ons are always fresh and delicious. There are a few surprising add ons that I’ve come to really love, like bacon.I love the Hawaiian salmon bowl, but my young kids are obsessed with the mochico chicken. It’s actually the only type of protein that I can get my two year old to consistently eat.A few pro tips: order online, and start with one of the pre-existing bowls and customize it. This is way less expensive than building your own. Additionally, the happy hour prices are great.Overall I highly recommend this restaurant.Kid-friendliness: If you get the mochiko chicken bowl and sub out the spicy sprouts for something else it is super kid friendly.
Food tasted great, but the “large roll” is tiny for $12-16, so too small a portion, the seaweed used to wrap it was hard to bite through and it fell apart near the end.Better off just getting a real sushi roll somewhere. Also, they advertise “sushi burrito”, but the menu mentions no burritos and only large rolls. Felt like a bait and switch.
They have good food. But I’ve eaten at another location that was a much better experience. There were so many people working and very few people in the building. The atmosphere was very off putting.
They have such good bowls and I am absolutely obsessed with their Siracha aoli, so much so that I always order extra. The price is very high for a chicken bowl though. The past 3 times I have gone in they have either forgotten my sauce or not given me the extra sauce I paid for. This isn 't what bothered me, as we all get busy and need friendly reminders. What bothered me was how rude the staff was about it. The first time the girl rolled her eyes which I brushed off as a bad day. It happened again a second time and she actually argued with me about it as if I was lying about not receiving it after she just handed me the takeout bag 1 second prior. The third time, most recently, the guy was filling the cups of sauce and all the workers making the food were starring at me with an annoyed look and one of the girls actually shook her head as if I was a burden and a karen. I felt like I had asked very nicely and this made me feel so uncomfortable and almost in tears for the last time. With how much you pay, their service is horrible. There is no way I will be returning back which is a bummer because I really do love their food. Also I have never left a review in my life but felt I needed to due to how uncomfortable they made me feel.
The food was good, but it is way overpriced for how much food you get. It looks like a lot in one bowl, but it's 70% rice with barely any fish. I ate for 30 minutes and 25 of those were eating rice. Highly recommend, go to H-mart, get a pound of sushi grade fish for $15 and make two properly proportioned bowls for the same price you get mostly rice at this place.
